Plz i got the LG monitor ultragear​ 24gn600 and i try to connect to my laptop but it cant reach to 144hz only 120hz

The problem is when i connect to laptop and go display setting and try to chnage the hz but it only show 120hz i use dp that came from the monitor than my laptop dont have dp so i use the conversion adapter hdmi to dp 

Its about monitor or about my laptop is bad? Or just when u connect laptop to monitor the max hz is 120hz? Help me i play valorant 

Little bit thing i play valo on laptop its no problem its show 144hz always

My pc spec is 

R7-5800H | RAM 16GB | M2 512GB NVMe 15.6 " FHD IPS 144Hz | RX5500M 4GB

I think is probably because of the adapter.

The adapter is probably the issue, but your laptop could be limiting output over HDMI to 120 Hz.

Get a straight cable instead, check specs before buying

Alright, but the specs is off. 120hz you say? It says 60hz on the package.

If yes, then it supports 144hz with HDMI. Get a HDMI cable instead if thats the case.
