Definitely faster (even the 2GB), but not twice. Thing is even if they are faster, they are not necessarily the better buy if OP didnt have other parts already on hand. 1650 GDDR5 goes for just under $200, maybe better to just bite the bullet for that one instead

What I have in mind is Vega 8's improvement from Zen+ to Zen 2 topped with extra size of the 11, pity they gave up this plan.

Almost double the framerate does in fact mean twice as fast. Granted there is a little bit of variance since nobody directly compares the 950 to Vega 8, but the 950 is functionally just as fast as a 1050 which is in plenty of comparison videos.

Note the date, a lot of those videos use older Vega 8s on 2200G and 3200G.

also 950 matches 1050 if you use the 90W variant of the 950, they later released a 75W version that's a bit worse.

Have a look at RX6400 and RX6500XT. They should cost the same as a GTX 1630 but nearly double the performance.

Oof, good luck.

AliExpress has a lot of scam video cards up there, so be very careful when ordering.

I was looking at videos almost entirely of the 5600G, and the Vega 7 in those perform marginally better than the Vega 8 (and in the couple videos comparing the 5700G to the 1050, once again Vega 8 in the newer chip was better than the Vega 11 in the older ones). It's not rocket science.

What are the rest of your parts? Those gpus will struggle with Forza and GTA. I would recommend looking at the used GPU Market. getting something like a 2060 Super or better. even a 1650 would be a huge jump, but those are overpriced right now

Well I guess if you play GTA V with x8 MSAA then yeah a 950 will definitely struggle. That gpu can play gta v at high settings without problem OP, just don't touch advanced settings and leave anti aliasing to fxaa.

It doesn't matter if it has a 6 pin or an 8 pin, they both have the same 3 12v pins which actually send power to the card. I suggest you look for reviews to find the best cooler and vrm available. You can mod the bios of 900 series gpus for basically unlimited power and voltage. MSI Gaming 2g and Asus strix should be excellent models for overclocking with a modded bios.
