what's the difference between gtx 950 and gtx 1630

bal723

I wanted to choose one for my gaming build because they both cost less money then other gpus.

But the question is what is better for gaming?

Just a quick question, what games do you plan on playing with your build? The 950 is pretty old card at this point and the 1030 is not a gaming gpu is why I ask. They are both capable of playing some games, but not well.

Sorry I probably edited my post. Refresh plz. Build Specs Below.

What are the rest of your parts? Those gpus will struggle with Forza and GTA. I would recommend looking at the used GPU Market. getting something like a 2060 Super or better. even a 1650 would be a huge jump, but those are overpriced right now

As long as OP found a 4GB 950, what you said is comically far from accurate. Game depending, the 950 4GB can be up to twice as fast as a 5600G lmao

I believe so? It's also been so long since 9-series I might have confused the mobile and desktop lineup though, because I know there were 4GB 950M's.

Let the price decide then. In old games the 1630 will be even slower than the 950 (extrapolating 1650 results with 57% the core count), but in new games they should even out.

exists but you should compare the price first, a bad deal if they ask for over 10% extra thn the 2GB

Don't get a 1630, it's bad, worse than a 6500 XT.

I recommend getting an RX 6400 or RX 6500 XT. They're not great either, but worst case scenario (with PCIe 3.0) it will perform like a 1050 Ti, a little faster than both GPU's. They should be priced about the same, have similar power consumption, but are much faster.

Or even better, a used 1060 6gb/RX5500XT/RX580

it sounds like you're set on getting the card.

Out of a 1630 vs 950?  Get the 1630, since it's not a 6 year old card, with 5+ years of wear and tear.

If you must get one or the other, a 950 4gb would probably be good, but I would wait until more info comes out about the 1630. I can't even find any for sale?

In comparison to the 950 it may perform similarly/better, plus longer support for drivers and what not. But idk that for sure yet since it hasn't hit shelves yet.

Definitely faster (even the 2GB), but not twice. Thing is even if they are faster, they are not necessarily the better buy if OP didnt have other parts already on hand. 1650 GDDR5 goes for just under $200, maybe better to just bite the bullet for that one instead

What I have in mind is Vega 8's improvement from Zen+ to Zen 2 topped with extra size of the 11, pity they gave up this plan.
