LG 34WN780-B @ 75HZ

BowlOfPorridge

Took delivery of this monitor yesterday and was having issues getting it to run at 75HZ. The specs say it can run at full resolution via HDMI at 75HZ but the settings only show 59.97 as max (my old LG monitor did this) the display properties show the refresh rates in round numbers but no 75HZ mode. I have created a custom resolution in Nvidia control (I have an RTX 3070). but what gives, why no native support? There is also no HDR certification found for the monitor (it's HDR10 compliant) and apps like Disney+ do not show HDR on the specs list for movies that have it. Am I missing something here? There are no software downloads or profiles on LG's website and the drivers show Generic PnP with no upgrades available.

HDR certification is not required for Streaming HDR content and this monitor spec is way too low for even meet the lowest Display HDR400 certification. It will not look nice and probably look very dull and low brightness than SDR output. You have RTX 3070, try using DP to check whether it can push up to 75hz or not, if not try check the monitor menu to see need to turn on any or not, for example overclock.

You need set Use HDR and HDR Video Streaming to ON for stream HDR content.1722931426_Screenshot2022-06-29185711.thumb.png.7c3af763c9a36115b2726ad2b83ff456.png

thank you for the response, the solution was to activate an option on the OSM. I note that you edited out your obnoxious comment about the price of this monitor (at £500 it is not cheap nor is it budget or low rent or any other verb you may choose to come up with) but at least you removed it.

For Ultrawide, this price is cheap. The price is not cheap if it is normal Wide 16:9 aspect ratio 1440p (2560x1440) monitor. But for Ultrawide, this monitor is the lowest price and lowest spec for branded monitor. This is not obnoxious comment but this is reality. You may thinking £500 is a lot, it do is a lot of money but for Ultrawide monitor, it is not a lot.

You need to paid at least £1100 for a good 1440p (3440x1440) Ultrawide monitor which meet the requirement of HDR content playback.

For HDR proper playback, you need to have at least 400 nits, preferable 600 nits. (DisplayHDR 400 or DisplayHDR 600), FALD (I am ok without it but some people not accepting HDR without FALD), also 10-bit panel 1.07 Billions color (8-bit + FRC is ok) not 8-bit panel 16.7 Millions color, some people is ok it is 8-bit as it actually not very huge differences but noticeable).

But you complained about how it handled HDR content so pointing out it isn't really up to "doing" HDR in any meaningful way is quite relevant.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. seems like reading around here is not so hot "there is also no HDR certification found for the monitor".... This is why forums should die. The usual nonsense of asking a question and ending up with a review and a lecture about HDR compliance followed by misrepresenting the question that was asked which was about HDR certification (Windows words not mine).

OP please tone it down, from my perspective I see your unwillingness to have a discussion or debate over the topic you created. Making assumptions such as

is a very obnoxious and presumptuous thing to do. There is no need to be antagonizing at the same attempting to backtrack on your own arguements.

So you ask a question about one but your don't want the answer for that question...

🤨

It seems to me you're in need of a bit of humbling. Either way, tone it down.
