Mixing GPU Brands

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

AMD drivers and Nvidia drivers don't like each other, and there really isn't a performance benefit for doing this anyway. I would just ditch the GT 1030, either use it as a spare GPU or just flip it and make some of your money back instead, having it in that system isn't gonna help and it's not worth the nightmare that would be figuring out drivers.

I have a new GPU, an AMD RX 6600, and my old GPU, an NVIDIA 1030. I was wondering if I could use my 6600 as my main gaming card, and my 1030 for other programs, like Chrome or Discord. I'm under the assumption that there would be a complication with drivers, so I wanted to ask people who probably know more than I do. I would plug my main, 1440p monitor to my 6600, and my secondary 1080p monitor to my 1030.

it is no issue to combine graphic cards but im pretty sure that chrome/discord go through the main graphic card aka gpu 1, theres no compilation with drivers really too since its amd and nvidia, theres a chance if u have a monitor connected to the 1030gt that stuff u run on there will go through the 1030gt ( dual monitor setup ), i wouldnt worry about outputting on the same gpu as gaming card though, i have a 2080ti outputting 4k 120hz and 1080p 144hz at the same time without issues or fps loss, and im using a displayport to hdmi 2.1 adapter, short said i would just run with 1gpu unless u have specific bugs with a 2nd monitor then the 1030gt can help with 2nd monitor

The 6600 can handle the other stuff fine.
