I purchased new cpu and cooler and now my computer won’t post to bios.

Hi!,

Today I just upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600 with the stock cooler to a ryzen 7 5800x with a ML240L V2 RGB liquid cooler. When I try to boot my computer nothing post onto my monitors. On my motherboard the EZ Debug status is bright red for the CPU. I have tried many times to reset bios by removing the battery, no success. I have also tried to re install my new cpu, nothing changed. All of the pins on the cpu are completely okay and everything is plugged in but the computer still will not post. There is a little bit of thermal paste residual on the mother board. Could that be the problem? Any help/suggestions would be amazing.

Did you update the BIOS before installing the new CPU?

Do you still have the old CPU? If so, install that and update the BIOS to the latest version
