The 6.9GHz CPU

AlexTheGreatish

To celebrate the nicest day of the year, 6/9, we recruited overclocker Splave to help us get a CPU up to 6.9GHz.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Regarding condensation mitigation I have a question.  As teh LN phases to gas, it displaces the local atmosphere, including the moisture suspended within.  The Nitrogen gas itself is  dry, as in shouldn't have any water vapor.  I ponder why no cases have been designed which utilize the nitrogen gas coming off the POT to keep the board immersed in this dry gas.  Maybe a combo POT/case design which ducts the discharge over the board to ensure it stays dry.

Isn't LG far more dangerous then working with Dry Ice? I am fairly certain that how Linus is handling LG put him and staff in danger.

not particularly as long s you're careful not to stay dunked/keep it against your skin. the leidenfrost effect helps.

Nitrogen is in the air we breath and DICE is simply frozen Co2 which is poisionous.
The real danger from Ln2 is due to it's cooling effect if you spill some on yourself, the leidenfrost effect helps but only goes so far.
If you spill it on clothing for example it will soak in like water.... And then go back to gas (Expands) which is how it cools and you're just screwed.
That's why any clothing it can soak into isn't a good idea, esp shoes and so on. Leather boots and even sandals (No socks) are better than sneakers because of this.

BTW I know Allen and he's a great guy, we've gone head-to-head before and had alot of fun doing that and I can honestly say the rep he has is well deserved.
If anyone could have done it he's the one.

But now I'd like to see someone from LTT do it themselves from start to finish.

I see. The most dangerous thing I have heard of people doing is put some Ln2 in a standard thermos. Those are not strong enough hold expanding Gases like that.

You NEVER try to seal a thermos or really any container with Ln2 in it - That creates a bomb in the literal sense of it.

You always want a thermos that's "Open" so it can't build pressure to cause that to happen. What's normally used is one of these or something similar: Amazon.com: Stanley Go Growler, 64oz Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Beer Growler, Rugged Growler with Stainless Steel Interior, 24 Hours Cold and 4 Days Ice Retention : Everything Else

What you want to do is first, never use the lock on it - In fact you may want to remove it so it can't ever get locked down by accident by anyone that doesn't know about it.

Aside from that a thermos like it is ideal for pouring into as an Ln2 flask and an insulated mug can also be used for times if you happen to overfill it - It happens and yes I have one of those as well. The size shown is what I've got and it's a good size to go with for use as a flask.
These have a vaccum inside like a dewar so it's really just a mini-dewar and can hold Ln2 more or less in the same way.
Note that a standard dewar does not have a locking top/lid on it for the same reasons laid out above but some larger ones do seal but also have a pressure relieving device and a way to open it up if this device should happen to fail. The huge tanks in the vid with the hose is one such container and has all that for good reason.
In any instance there must be a way to relieve pressure from Ln2 as it expands and it always will do so even in a dewar so that's the main thing to know and worry about.

The only pressure vessel they used was that huge container the stuff came in. It looks like all the lttstoredotcom water bottles they used had their lids removed (or at the very least, open).

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Also, which GPU is that? Looks low profile, single slot, and no power connector

The huge tanks are equipped with a pressure relief device as stated earlier and for good reason. For a container of that size you can't tip it and pour, instead it's allowed to build up some pressure so that forces the liquid Ln2 out of the container via the hose you saw Linus using to fill his flask with from it.

@AlexTheGreatish or anyone else who has any info

Do you guys run dehumidifiers in the shop prior to embarking on these kinds of tests in order to remove as much moisture from the air as possible to minimise condensation? Or is that just not practical given production considerations or the relatively high humidity of the lower mainland?

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy
