I imagine cartoons with the kids and blu-rays that he burns? Like my family has a theatre room that doubles as a storage room and nowadays with two adult kids living at home it's basically just used to play video games on a projector or watch movies when my dad doesn't want to disrupt everyone else and wants to sit in super comfy chairs while doing it.

I can't help but think a lot of elaborate home theatres end up that way.

The fantasy: we'll watch movies together with awe-inspiring image quality and immersive sound! Who needs the theatre when we have a better experience at home?

The reality: the system goes completely underused; the kids watch YouTube videos and play games, and the parents are thankful if they can squeak in anything over an hour. A $1,000 clearance TV, built-in speakers and a couch would have been just as effective as that $3,000 projector, 7.1-channel speaker setup and deluxe leather chairs.

Screen Innovations' discontinued transformer projector screen did the kind of motorized masking Linus is talking about. That's the only thing I've seen do that.

As a PSA for anyone seeing this. DO NOT put duvetyne in small indoor areas where humans or animals will be. It is made with flame retardent chemicals and is absolutely not recommended to be breathed in. Someone please mention this to Linus and have him remove it from his theater room if he did put it up inside.

Are you sure about that?

I'd be worried if the walls were covered in material that wasn't flame retardant.

Yeah, how nice of Yvonne to let Jake build a theater room just for himself.

Also I haven't had many LMG staff members grow on me over the years but Dan is starting to become a favorite. His dark humor made me laugh.

Fun video! As someone who recently replaced an Audyssey configuration with custom SPL alignment, distance delay, and bass management via Mini-DSP 2x4HD using REW and a calibrated UMIK-1 microphone, I would highly recommend investing the time and resources to do it for your setup. With about 3 hours' work and less than $500 of equipment investment, the sound quality of my home theater improved drastically from what Audyssey gave me. Can't wait to see what you do for your room treatments & riser implementation!

No. Apply some common sense and critical thinking. Would Linus really tell you to contact him on a platform he's never mentioned using for a giveaway he's never announced?

You might also notice that if you look at the replies to other comments on the video, a huge number of other people just coincidentally won the "giveaway" as well.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

They're real scams, yes.

That's becoming increasingly common in the comments for popular tech YouTubers' videos. The scammers must have changed tactics after the emoji-laden proposition bots stopped working.

Aw... the disappointment on LS face when he found out that the LED backlighting is static.

It's way to big for an out of the box solution like Philips or Govee, but there is a way if he wants to assign someone to DIY it.

Saw how to do it here (smaller scale of course):

Without LCoS type panels and without 3D this Epson projector is truly missing something.

The panel is actually Full HD as well, shifting around to display the 4K resolution (which is why they couldn't squeeze in 3D anymore).

I really prefer the Sony projectors with better panels thanks to LCoS technology (Sony's marketing calls them SXRD), native 4K resolution and the option to watch 3D movies (with the active shutter glasses they look awesome!).

Did the LMG guys even try out different projectors of the same price range or did they just take the thing Epson sent and kept it because it looked awesome? Of course it is great but it always sounds like it's the only and/or best available gadget for the use case (which it isn't!). I'm no Sony vendor or anything I just actually tried Epson, Sony and JVC side by side and found others to have the best overall featureset for the use case.

While I agree with much of the sentiment of your post, I'm going to HARD disagree with the "built in speakers" comment.

Even a $70, on sale from Costco, Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker set is a VERY STRONG step up from the bulk of TV speaker sets.

Diminishing returns certainly kick in at some point and you don't need a full 7.2.4 set up to be happy (I have one, I'm using it right now), there's a big jump from TV speakers to ANY not awful speakers that are properly positioned and a further jump to a good 4.1 set up (2 GOOD front speakers, 2 serviceable side speakers and a GOOD subwoofer).
