Did you enable hot swap in bios?

My hard drives are showing up in USB safety remove, at first i didnt mind it but when i accidentally safety remove my game drive instead of the usb stick, i finally decided to fix it. So how do i fix this?

My bios are in default, but i will check my bios for that setting

So yes it was indeed enabled in bios, so i disable all of them. but i got this ghost drive (F:) i have no usb plugged in

Do you have a card reader on your case?

Ahh you are a genius sir! all of your advices were spot on, I plugged in an sd card to the card reader slot it drive F lit up.

 

Will the greyed out drive always be there when nothing is plugged in ?

Yup, IIRC it only shows when you have this option unticked. In any case, you can always disable viewing of hidden files and that should get rid of it.

It's the option further up with the 2 radio boxes to hide hidden files, folders and drives

ahh i see, its alright i like having hidden folder shown ,

 

last problem, i had windows 10 before and the usb icon on the tray does not show up if there is no usb devices plugged in

You can choose what icons to always see in the taskbar preferences also on Win11.

wait really ? how do i navigate to this taskbar prefence? the only thing i see is the overflow icons, i want to clean up the usb eject in the hidden icons tab

Ah, if you expand the tab yes it's always going to be there as long as there's a "removable" device connected, but that's no different than in 10 AFAIK.

but there is no removable device connected 😕 .  as you can see in this image.

its just a "..." there are no printers connected also as of the moment, just my keyboard and mouse , its weird that it counts that under here

i did try to hide the hidden folder inorder to hide the drive but the icon is still there. I guess i just have to get used to that icon, its just i am used to a clean icon tray, with only my antivirus being there 🙂
