Protonmail changed url now I can't log in anymore?!

They changed from .com to .me ...

And now i can't log in because my browser apparently doesn't recognize the site...

And also doesn't seem to show me the password (which is really dumb)

So there isn't really anything i can do ? (i dont think i have a recovery email...)

How do they think changing the domain for an email service is a good idea anyways...!? Doesn't really make sense to me (thats besides its really bad practice for security reasons I dont even know if that is the *right* site now or some phishing attempt)

They changed the logo too... it looks horrible btw (if legit)

yeah, i did... its saved, but it doesn't show me the password when i click on it... just nothing happens (Samsung internet...)

I know in chrome it shows you the password... so yeah I dont know why it doesn't in Samsung internet, i thought thats kinda the point.

I didn't think however that an email service nilly willy changes their domain either lol.

Yeah, I was just about to make PM my only email account, too. Idiots getting paid entirely too much to reinvent the wheel in an ongoing effort to see just how much they can pi** people off... I, for one, think the new look sucks!

For real... they could have at least kept the old login open so people maybe can still login...

Funny enough the reason i chose pm was the cool login logo... now it just looks like a Paypal clone! Wtf.

But yeah,  my pw is kinda the bigger issue... i cant believe Samsung internet saves it, but doesn't show it to you,  any other browser i tried does !

The new url hasn't affected my ability to log in.

I'd try a password reset via the site?

They dont remember their password, and its stored in their password manager under the old site.

The problem is my browser is currently holding the password hostage... i know the login works,  but not with a password manager apparently because the site changed... (admittedly thats mostly on Samsung i guess but still, I  have not seen this ever, a "secure" email service changing the domain... they really should have at least let the old login open for a while)

Password reset may or may not work, but I'll lose all emails in this case, another protonmail " feature"...

Yeah, they did what in literature culture is known as a Philip K. Dick move.

I don't use a password manager or even save passwords but at first my browser couldn't even load the site, then it got stuck in a loop at the login screen and only worked after a restart.

Aren't passwords stored in the settings? if you're using Firefox that is. I remember seeing a master password setting somewhere.

They are on samsung internet now.

and ff changed it to Primary password

Quote

Firefox is removing terminology from the browser that has been identified as derogatory or exclusionary. We’re listening to conversations happening within the Mozilla community and in the world at large, and are paying attention when people tell us that some terms we use in Firefox exclude and damage people.

‘Master-slave’ is a metaphor that perpetuates racism. Firefox strives for inclusion and clarity; we have no need for terms derived from harmful metaphors when we have plenty of alternatives that are more inclusive, more descriptive and non-racist. For this reason, all instances of Master Password are being replaced with Primary Password in the Firefox browsers and products.

Deprecating the term Master Password is also in accordance with the "Derogatory Language" section of the Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines.

yes. but it doesn't show you the pws, because Samsung also went to the Philp K. Dickmove school!! >.<

My pws show in any other browser... just the pw i need is saved only in Samsung internet...

But, i found this... kind of expected shenanigans like this already,  but its a bit much... and it doesn't seem to be opt out (or in)  either.

it's mobile so that's probably why.

nope,  all my other mobile browsers show pws (chrome and firefox this is) 🤷‍♂️

The problem is Samsung being hyper "secure" basically making it impossible to see your own passwords! and extremely convoluted process to even try to see them too.

.Basically they force you to use "Samsung pass"... but that seems incredibly buggy , tedious, and probably not secure at all lol...

actually... chrome says i need to set a screen lock to see them...  THE PLOT THICKENS LOL

Maybe I need to set a screen lock 🤔

Edit: nope, that works for Chrome but not for Samsung 😕

Thats the annoying part... it doesn't even tell you how... it just doesn't work like any other browser...

(the lock screen thing for Chrome makes actually sense, is painless, and actually secure...)
