Why is my 3060ti’s RGB leaking light?

ManderleyBoy

As you can see in this pic there is a small line above the MSI rgb. It doesn’t really bother me THAT much but I know it shouldn’t be like that. Brand new card BTW

what could cause this?

Is this within manufacturing standards?

I dont see any image but highend gpus are generally very cheaply made vs 15 years ago. Its normal to find 25cent plastic shrouds on 1500$ gpus these days.

I disagree,

The Bigger GPUs + more VRM phases of modern GPUs are making graphics cards significantly more expensive to produce.

Though now days you overpay for what you get...

Also plastic shrouds were a thing even 15 years ago:

Not really worth it. Maybe if the gpu cooler was intended on being high quality it might be something worth doing but it's a midrange computer part not a bugatti.

I disagree

You know you can set me to ignore as well  , no need to waste time responding. Because anytime I bother expanding that block message it's always just condescending dribble about stuff I know more than you about.

For example , I don't need a google images picture of a 2900xt , I can just look at the 2900xt I already own and know it's made better. Let me know when you find a piece of painted cast not stamped steel as a frame for a gpu these days because thats what a 3870 x2 has as well. Should be able to find a picture of one on google images if you've misplaced yours.

I already did RMA for a new one of the same model. But you’re right. It’s funny though how 500$+ has become midrange in 2022.

TBF, MSI started to do plastic backplates on some models... i mean thats really the worst... i dont think that was a thing in the past?

The shrouds have always been plastic,  I think.

i would have too... it looks like a defect (even tho the picture was so poor hard to tell lol) also lowers resale value...

yeah, GPUs became really expensive  - mostly due to mining imho...

I paid 150 bucks for my X1950GT back in the day... and even that was a ripoff as it later turned out, should have been 100 (for what was actually a midrange card)

The guys at the service said it’s just a simple misalignment but I didn’t care and still wanted to change it. I just put in my new one and it looks as it should. Haven’t tested the performance yet but I’m sure it’ll be the same
