TV manufacturer TCL leaks Next-Gen AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU alongside Sony PlayStation 5 Pro & new Xbox Series S/X consoles

Summary

In a presentation by TCL, the company seems to have leaked out several next-gen products including AMD's Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card, Sony PlayStation 5 Pro & new Xbox Series S/X consoles; all of which will be 8K capable, according to the TV manufacturer. Also, according to TCL, Sony and Microsoft could unveil new consoles already next year.

Polish website PPE took part in TCL press conference in Poland. The TV maker outlined its expectations from the console gaming market and how it will prepare for the arrival of even more powerful devices. The 9.5th Gen of Sony and Microsoft consoles shouldn’t be considered next-gen. This mid-gen update would feature an updated model of both PlayStation 5 (possibly called Pro) and new Xbox Series S and X.

The company expects that 8K capable devices could be unveiled with performance estimates of AMD Radeon RX 7700XT GPU. Naturally, this graphics card does not exist yet, however it is likely that it will be based on Navi 32 GPU with RDNA3 graphics.

The company postulates the consoles could deliver 8K 60FPS output and up to 4K 120FPS rendering, which is a pretty tall order for dedicated video games hardware.

The new upgraded consoles are coming in 2023 or 2024, electronics giant TCL predicts.

My thoughts

My assumption is that because the presentation slide says 2160p/60-120 render, they might possibly be implying they will be using FSR 2.0 to upscale to 8K. Current rumors also have the 7700 XT matching 6900 XT performance, and again while those are rumors; it corresponds to the supposed expectations that TLC predicts with these new consoles' capabilities. All in all if you were actually able to get ahold of an Xbox Series X or PS5, I'm sure you were pleased with its performance being more in line with a PC, and this generational refresh of the consoles seems to continue that trend. I'm wondering if any other specs are going to change on these updated consoles besides the GPU?

The fuck do you mean leaked? They didnt at all. This is apart of a presentation of what they expect to happen. Its timeline of 3-4 years is just based off what just happened with the previous Gen Xbox, and what they expect the next gpu to do. Not that it will be able to. Dont read into the details that are not there.

This is not a leak. I could say "Wow the Nvidia RTX 9900 XTX Turbo SC will be able to play 16k games at 240FPS" yeah it probably will be able to.

I'm not a professional, just an enthusiast. I don't know everything.

HGST Ultrastar: The last HDD you'll ever need to buy (and the one I always recommend).

Schrödinger's CPU: The Q9650. Is it irrelevant? Is it not?

Seems more like they're just speculating on what might come out in the next few years, rather than any actual insider knowledge. You don't need a crystal ball to predict that AMD will release a new GPU in the next year or two or that the consoles might get a hardware refresh at some point this generation. This is more likely TCL saying "hey, based on trends over the last few years we're expecting in a few years time the console gaming to provide a market for 8k TVs so we're going to head in that direction with our TVs"

8k gaming seems kind of unnecessary to me.

This doesn't look like a leak; it looks like speculation by TCL on what future products could be called based on their previous naming schemes. Consoles are refreshed on a decently regular schedule these days, so it's not hard to come up with ideas for what they could be called.

I like how literally ever reddit thread and news site I've seen on this calls what is obviously speculation a leak. "Hmm thats interesting, a 3-4 year pattern is usually what we see between console revisions. that means we will most likely see one in the year 2023 if the pattern holds true" HOLY SHIT HE LEAKED PS69 IN 2023!

I agree this'll be upscaling,  not native. Still. kind of impressive?

Its marketing jargon.  GenZers think they're immune against advertising,  so now we "leak" *everything* ...

Also bonus: with leaks you can change everything after enough hype has been created and you can just say "we didn't say anything,  the leaks were wrong..."

(and true,  it could be hypothetical,  the point is it creates hype, and that isn't by accident...)
