What is the best distro i can use in a Atom netbook?

I have Atom CPU netbook. I want install Linux on it. What is best distro for it? It only supports x86.

Lubuntu 18.04 or Debian with LXDE should work but don't expect to do even basic web browsing smoothly on it.

What atom? First gen stuff like a n270 and stuff is basically not usable no matter what you do.

Z3735F and 2GB RAM.

Doable system ram will be the limiting factor.

 

But basically debian, arch, lubuntu,... all that stuff will function.

We have an eMachines 350 with an Atom N340 processor, MFG October 2009. The Toshiba Z3735G might be a bit newer than that. Both in the link I have, state Windows 32 bit installed and our one would have come with WinXP.

 

I installed Linux MATE 32 bit on our one and it has a 120GB SSD in place of the original disk. It has been upgraded from 1GB RAM to 2GB and works well. It will, I have tried it, run Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.3, 64 bit on an SSD, though not as fast.
