AH... I should think of it more as 16/30 than 1630!  That makes it all a lot clearer!

makes it sound like they're stronger than a 1060 or 1070 etc too (higher numbers! ) when they really arent (afaik?)

 

almost like a 3950, but its about as powerful as a 1050ti, but cost 'only' $350... 

 

tldr: its meant to be confusing because 16xx dont even make sense (at these prices...)

Again, the naming scheme is very logical. Just not intuitive. 

 

The 16XX series sits between the 10XX and 20XX series if we look at them in a generational sense. Which makes sense since 16 is between 10 and 20.

 

But since this is an XX30 product it is very low end. 

 

 

Newer low end products are not always better than older high end products. 

You can't just blindly look at the whole number and think higher is better. That's not true for any manufacturer, not just Nvidia.

Watch them slap some ddr1 69mhz ram into one of the skus, and still call it a gtx 1630,while it is 100x slower,  like they did with the gt1030 and gt730.

Intel's A380 after seeing gtx 1630 benchmarks, rx 6400? It might a well be a 3090 ti for A380
