HELP. My fps has dropped significantly

Here's what I'd do now if I were you.

 

Double and triple check that the cooler is compatible with your specific GPU model.

 

Clean off the existing thermal compound with Isopropanol.

 

Do some dry fitment testing to see if you can determine if there is any particular reason for the cooler to not be mounting correctly.

 

Reapply thermal compound, being sure to cover the entire surface of the GPU die. It is critical that the entire surface is covered, since unlike with CPUs, GPUs do not have heat spreaders.

 

Try to fit the cooler back onto the card and avoid or mitigate any of the issues that you may have discovered with dry fitment.

 

Test the card, but take it easy, don't hit it too hard too fast incase it still isn't together properly.

Just tested everything and it seems to be working normal. No stutter or dropped frames. And the graphs look way different from what they were the past couple of days. Thanks for your help!

 

But eventually it would be smarter for me to add a second radiator right? I think I will do that next but with a different case this one is way too small

Yeah probably. Depends on if you are happy with your temperatures and noise. One thing you want to try to avoid is going over 60C on the coolant temp since many water cooling components are only rated up to 60C (not that they wouldn't suddenly break the instant you go above that, it just isn't good for longevity). I'd estimate your coolant temp was getting up to 50C or so before this fix, so it might be edging closer to 60C with your GPU now pulling it's full power.

I have the temp sensor connected to the controller for corsair and I'm assuming that's the coolant temp that's showing up in hwinfo but that is showing around 48c so I think I am good for now but I will keep an eye on the coolant temp.
