Weird windows issues

So recently I upgraded to a GTX 1080 ti. Today when I put it in and installed the Nvidia drivers I suddenly had this issue where some windows would always stay on top and I could only get to see other windows if I closed them or minimized them. 

 

I did some searching and I saw something about "application frame host" or something like that but I don't know if that is the same as my issue.

 

Any help is appreciated.

Because it's a windows issue, i would try this at an elevated prompt:

 

sfc /scannow

DDU your driver and reinstall it.

okay so i feel kinda stupid but i also have no idea how this happened. the window that was stuck on top was the task manager window and somehow the "always on top" selection in the options menu was selected. no idea how switching a gpu caused this but yeah it was a super simple fix
