Software to overclock or increase speed of HDD without defragmenting?!?

Are there any softwares which can I increase speed of HDD or overclock HDD without defragementing? My HDD is slow.

You cant overclock HDDs. Your only option is defragmenting. That being said, HDDs get slower older they get.

Theoretically, yes, you could hack the firmware to make the spindle faster. But this is a guaranteed way to destroy the drive, but that is just something that someone trying to set some sort of meaningless record would do… not for actual use.

me for instance trying to f around with my junk harddrive just because why the hell not? If you are gonna use it for important data then no but if you are like me and just wanna f with your garbage old harddrive then depends on your will (aka how far you wanna go just to have fun with your garbage hardware)

 

I think theres a thing called short stroking where you make a smaller partition located in the inner portion of the drive to put your windows install in so windows will feel snappier

 

But really just get a ssd and shove your windows install on it, you can buy cheap used ssds if you are that tight on budget

I thought you just needed to make a smaller partition in the inner part of the drive for windows and leave the rest as a diff partition for everything else

No, that won't actually help. Theoretically if you did that and did a very specific test of only querying the storage space dedicated to windows, sure. But if the rest of the platter is still being used for data, as soon as the read/write head has to go seek out to that section, seeking back to the inner area where the OS is is going to have normal high latency. 

 

The idea is you want to fully restrict the head from moving to the outer areas of the platter. But really, all of this is pointless these days. SSD's are cheap enough to much more effectively fix this.

I know you said without defragmenting, but I highly recommend using an application called ultimate defrag. You have really fine granular control over where each file is located on the hard drive and it will defragment it so well that it'll decrease your response time and latency overall quite noticeably. I Have tried all the different defrag apps that have used it is easily the best.
