Core i5 12400 Temp

Hi everyone,

So today I finally upgraded some parts of my CPU.

Previously I was using these 3:
Intel® Core™ i3-8100 Processor, Asus PRIME B360M-A Motherboard, Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 2133 MHz Rams

New parts are:
Intel Core i5-12400 Processor - 6 Cores - 12 Threads - LGA 1700,
Gigabyte B660M GAMING DDR4 Intel GAMING Motherboard - LGA1700 - Rev 1.0.

and

XPG Spectrix D50 16GB DDR4 3600MHz RGB Desktop Memory (8GBx2) - AX4U36008G18I-DT50

And I still have my Nvidia 1060 6GB (planning to upgrade later), Corsair 650 Watt PSU, SSD, HDD, Cooler Master CPU Cooler etc.

I am noticing my CPU temps are bit high as compared to the previous CPU I had, noticed around 70-80 degrees in Dead by daylight and around 50s on idle.

Is this normal for this CPU or do I need to upgrade my cooler as well? Should I get some decent AIO cooler?

Also should I reinstall my windows?

Should I upgrade to windows 11?

Any other tips for testing temps and performance...

Would appreciate any help... Thanks.

the reason that the cpu is hotter is because it consumes a lot more power than your old cpu so getting a better cooler should stop that you dont need a aio but a good air cooler will suffuse something like a hyper 212. you dont need to reinstall windows and i would not recommend upgrading to windows 11 just yet.

So it not safe to use the system until I get better cooler?

I also saw bios update available in notifications of gigabyte app, should I go for it?
