Should I upgrade new build to Windows 11?

Will it make my system unstable?

No reason that should happen just by upgrading

Hello Everyone!

I recently built a system with a i5-12400, and a MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi DDR4.

I have been running windows 10 lately, but windows has a suggestion to upgrade to 11 for free.

Should I do it? Or is it going to make the system unstable.

Thanks!

the choice is yours, win 11 is nice to have, but not necessary now.

Windows 10 will suggest to upgrade to 11 for any computer that qualifies. I believe you only need to run Windows 11 if your 12th gen cpu have efficiency cores. Which yours doesn't. Keep on using 10 if you prefer that.

I have been testing out Windows 11 performance on 12th gen AlderLake and on my laptop with a ryzen 5 5500u
I can defenitly tell that Windows 11 does seem a lot snappier

Windows versions illustrate diminishing returns :

Windows 95 was 200% better than Windows 3.1

Windows 98 was 100% better than Windows 95

Windows XP was 50% better than Windows 98

Windows 7 was 25% better than Windows XP

Windows 8 was 12% better than Windows 7

Windows 10 was 6% better than Windows 8

Now Windows 11 is 3% better than Windows 10, it's relatively stable but you won't gain much ...

You are talking performance, visually at least, 10 was a great leap over 8, also is this based on launch or transition time, and where vista?

Huh forgot Vista indeed, I kept XP for too long !

I didn't really find 10 to be that better than 8...

At this point its a matter of preference for most people. I for one don't like the placement of the start menu of Windows 11. I know there are programs that can bring it back to how it was, but I'd rather run my Windows system as minimal as possible. This is why I stick to Windows 10 on one of my PCs even no I us Linux as a daily driver now.
