Logitech Brio

Abraham Casas

i apologize, im not exactly sure what kind of topic this would fit in so i decided this was probably best topic area.

So i have a Logitech Brio that can Stream and Record in 4k 30 FPS i believe, and i also have a 1440p Monitor.

However, when i stream, i use Streamlabs and  my entire output is 1920x1080 since Twitch highest output is 1080p 60fps.

Now I manually set my Logitech brio im Streamlabs to 3840x2160 and shrink it to “Face Cam” during gameplay and also when i have a full “Full Face Cam” its also set to 3840x2160 and i just fit it to screen. Im sure what twitch does is downscale that video to 1080p which still makes it look crisp right?

now i want to use OBS studio to Just RECORD using the Logitech Brio and setting it to 3840x2160 however, record only in 1080p.

would that work and would my video files still be gigantic even tho my output and canvas is set to 1080p?

i hope i made some sort of sense and hope someone can help. Thank you.

What's the question exactly?

In OBS you set both your output resolution and what resolution to open sources as.

Oh sorry, would setting my Logitech Brio to 3840x2160 in a 1920x1080 Base Canvas in OBS Studio work? Like my main recording would be in 1080p but having my webcam set to 4k

instead of setting my webcam to 1920x1080, since it can technically do 4k, could i record in 1080p while the webcam capturing in 4k? Like not exactly recording in 4k haha. I know it sounds very confusing

Well yes just like you do it now, set OBS to a 1920x1080 canvas, your webcam to 3840x2160, and use Fit to Screen on the webcam source

Setting the webcam to 1080 would reduce processing requirements and may (or may not) actually give out a better picture, need to try and compare yourself
