AMD kept their best GPU a secret

RDNA2 brought Radeon GPUs back to mainstream gamers, but AMD’s newest graphics card has the same silicon they’re already selling – Can it REALLY compete at the high end with Nvidia’s RTX 3090 Ti?

Assuming you could actually buy one is a big IF. I was determined to get RX 6800 XT on launch, despite worse ray tracing. Just for it to be entirely unobtainable for basically a whole year. And when it sort of came into stock they were priced at 1500€, which is just ridiculous. I've gone with RTX 3080 after waiting for basically half a year after launch.. Heh.

I am going to stick with nvidia cards going forward but for the better value I suggest buying an AMD RX 6800 or an NVIDIA RTX 3080.

It's RX 480 vs RX 580 (plus RX 590 if you count the 12 nm die shrink) all over again.

Except this time, RDNA 2 is way better than GCN 4, but the pricing is also wackier than before thanks to the shortage and mining.

Eh, the naming scheme makes sense. It's only somewhat better, definitely not worth making into a 7000XT or whatever they would call it.

nVidia's "ti" cards are roughly 10%-15% better than the base card usually, so the 3090ti was BS in that is was only 5% faster. I will never be able to afford any GPU, not even the 6400, so the point is moot, but I like that they named it the way they did.

Hello there!

AMD released an OEM version of 6900XT at summer 2021 with XTXH chip and 18Gbps memory. It's called RX6900XT LC (with SKU RX-69XTMAQFD), and was OEM exclusive for a while, but still sells for about 1.2-1.3x MSRP at various European and Russian markets. I even managed to buy one for like 1.1x MSRP (about 1200$), where other 6900xt's sells for about 1500-1600 minimum, at February.

It features Navi 21 XTXH chip (Overclockable and with higher boost from factory), 18Gbps memory chips from Samsung (custom one, not even shows at their sites - K4ZAF325BM-HCP2), and Liquid cooling system made by CoolerMaster - with custom waterblock with integrated pump and 120mm rad+fan. Just like in FuryX, 120mm is enough for keeping card temperatures at air-level, but with less noise overall.

Here is review for it from some Deutch site, here is some korean site that did open it up and show beauty from CoolerMaster's waterblock&pump (use Google Translate for it).

I think it's very interesting that AMD made these for like an year ago, and sells it now "as new refresh" with new model number and higher price.Видеокарта XFX RX6900XT 16GB (RX-69XTMAQFD)

We need more reviews of cards for HD. About 67% on steam play FHD. GTX1060, 1650 and 1050TI beeing the most used cards. And i don´t see that changing at all tbh. From beeing around on a lot of gaming forums, most people who buy a new PC wanna stay under 1200$ (monitor not included). Wich is basically what this card costs.

I wonder if you can flash a 6950 XT BIOS on a 6900 XT.

Agreed, although I'd only really consider the AMD alternative as a serious option if:

1. The Nvidia equivalent is either impossible to find or is marked up way too high.

2. You're a Linux user.

AMD drivers on Windows is still very hit or miss.
