Yes, exactly. The laptop has only one Thunderbolt port and that port doesn't support PD in Germany. So I wasn't wrong about the spec in that sense.

Also this doesn't change the fact, that it is not easily discernible when looking at the product page. You wouldn't expect that a port hidden in the XG-mobile interface is the only charging port, while the easily accesible port isn't. It doesn't help that all of the instructions inside the packaging also say that the Thunderbolt port should be used for charging while it isn't able to.

And if I read Thunderbolt and look at the laptop, I wouldn't guess it either. And I wasn't alone at that, multiple german reviewers also where confused about it.

We apologize for the inconvenience this caused regarding Thunderbolt port specifications. Please provide us with the link or details to the specification you're referencing. We can have this feedback forwarded to the related team for any necessary changes.

Is it too much to ask to be able to disable a crosshair overlay or FPS counter on a once $1500 display without a factory reset?

If Asus would stand behind it it's product there would have been a firmware update addressing this oversight but yet nothing happened after contacting support (there are more firmware bugs). Overall it feels like support the support is there for RMAs and unable to address any technical support/bug reports.

TL;DR The issue with Asus as a whole is that you guys deliver great, durable hardware designs (excluding firmware & software) and some novel product ideas but completely screw up the technical support leaving the customer out in the cold.

By and large, once scorched earth has been created, it's hard to come back.

I don't buy or consider Asus products myself anymore (for a while I still bought them used [why buy new if there's no support anyway?] when they were heavily discounted compared to other brands, but due to firmware bugs I don't even consider that a good deal anymore), so I probably wouldn't notice if something is about to change.

If you haven't tried already, you can disable crosshair overlay and FPS counter located in OSD menu. Open OSD (On-screen Display) menu -> System Setup -> GamePlus -> OFF. If the issue persist, please send us DM with your ASUS case number so we can help investigate this with related team.

@Asus_NAsupport It's an Asus PG348Q. Contacted the support about this years ago and today, after owning for more than half a decade I find out there is actually two ways to disable it:

1. let the menu time out

2. double press the X button instead of single press like the manual suggests.

On this monitor there isn't an intuative off option in the GamePlus menu:

image.png.28c2aece42516fa14e24a92dc3c6c1bf.png

Other issues I have with this particular monitor:

1. i5-10500 on an MSI B460i: The screen does not wake up reliably. The HDMI cable must be disconnected or the screen must be power cycled.

2. anything that cannot output 1440x3440 pixels is, in my experience, not compatible with this monitor. This is not so significant nowadays, but still a problem I often encounter as embedded devices (and BIOS) often do not support this resolution.

3. On some machines it is impossible to use this display to change BIOS settings. This is probably the same problem as point 2, but means that I always have to turn my secondary Dell into landscape mode when I want to change BIOS settings. When it does work it isdisplayed, often a small window/section (the low resolution BIOS output is not scaled up). If I remember correctly, this is only a problem with systems without NVidia GPUs. With G-sync it works. An example of a system that doesn't work would be the HP Elitedesk G2 (or Fujitsu E720; can't remember).

Similar it's very annoying as you don't see the debug messages during (early) boot as the display is at this point still black.

4. With some systems it infrequently displays vertical strips. This might be an Intel/AMD display driver issue but this is the only display own with such issues.

5. Questionable advertising. It was sold and advertised as an 100Hz display. Technically it can run at 100Hz. Technically there is a fine print about it being upto 100Hz. In reality it can't do more than 80Hz with display artefacts/issues (not surprising since it's a native 60Hz panel). Another problem that support wasn't aware of, and I found the answer to my questions on Reddit.

Hi @FlyingPotato_is_taken, Thanks for following up and it's unfortunate to hear about some of the issues you've encountered with your PG348Q monitor. What type of troubleshooting have you done so far in regards to screen unable to wake up and display unable to change BIOS?

  • For the devices in which is unable to wake up reliably, you can try additional steps provided here to troublehoot: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1042630/
  • In regards to display being stuck before BIOS screen, is it inaccessible with both HDMI and DisplayPort? Have you attempted enabling CSM on those affected devices to see if that changes your displays ability to get into BIOS?
  • For the display issues mentioning vertical strips and issues with artifacting, please ensure devices have updated BIOS, Windows packages, and graphics drivers to the latest version if you haven't done so already.

If the issues persist, please send us a DM. We'll do our best to gather detailed description of device symptoms and system specifications to investigate this further with our technical product team.

I figured I would post something here.  I've been having an issue with CableMod that is still ongoing but has started leaving a bad taste. I placed an order for custom cables on 11/15, it was considered complete and shipping on 12/4, and I have yet to receive it.  Initially, the item took a while before being found again in USPS on 12/19.  It then got to within a few miles of my house before getting routed away.

And this is where it got weird:

  • It kept going to different distribution centers away from my location.
  • I only had their tracking link through tracking more and couldn't check directly with USPS.
  • Then the tracking systems started spitting out random Arrival/Departure at Transfer centers for 2 weeks with no location.
  • I finally reached out and the day after their system suddenly decided it had arrived at a local processing center and was out for delivery.
  • No delivery occurred but it showed delivered.
  • CableMod finally sent me the actual USPS code and it shows that on 12/27 it was confiscated by the USPS for counterfeit postage.
  • There is no additional tracking information after that day so I don't know what their tracking system was doing.

CableMod has suddenly begun responding much slower ever since I pointed out the counterfeit postage and I have yet to receive a response indicating a resolution.

RESOLVED
CableMod did step up and fairly quickly FedEx'd a replacement.  So I was happy in the end.  All of this was just so strange.

The PC is fine. It's the display for example after Windows (energy settings) turns it of for energy saving. If I recall correctly Windows standby was also very problematic.

How do I change the BIOS defaults without being able to enter the bios? This would be similar to the chicken or the egg dilemma.

Yes. This was primarily an issue with the Intel i5-10500 system. With AMD Ryzen APUs it's mostly gone.

The take away for me is: Out of all the monitors I use this is the only that does it. At some point I was so frustrated that I considered buying a low end NVidia GPU just for G-sync to get this monitor to work reliably. Already tried twice replacing it with a new display but both time picked a model with a anti-glare coating that wasn't eye friendly and none of the local stores have 34" on display.

As I don't had or have any other Asus monitor it burned itself into my memory as Asus monitor have horrible combability.

For the vertical OC issue. This is the reddit post that thought me it was an 100Hz issue:

@LMGcommunity Not strictly a complain but something you might want to keep track of:

Ugreen is taking a $5 "deposit" for their NAS (refundable anytime [if requested] or automatically after the kickstarter [if not bought]) . In exchange they promise to get the "limited best price". In my opinion not an issue.

But:

1. "secure the best price" is watered down on the next page to: ". When the NASync Series releases, an email with an exclusive link will be sent to customers that have paid the deposit several hours in advance to ensure they receive the best price. ". This isn't the same as early birds are limited in quantity meaning they probably will sell more "deposits" than there are early birds in the kickstarter.

2. no price range/bracket communicated but they are asking you to  choose the variant when purchasing the "deposit"/early access to kickstarter.

3. The deposit isn't a deposit at all. If you go ahead and buy the NAS than the $5 isn't used for the purchase of the NAS (what a deposit would be) or refunded. It instead is converted into a $20 coupon code for the next purchase on their website.

To make it more complicated: A product called "UGREEN 4700 Public test sample" with NAS in the URL is in their webstore for 600€ (so they already know their pricing?):

just an update with secret lab they've deleted around half a dozen of my (non-rule breaking mind you) comments on both their discord and subreddit. Even comments that are near exact to mine are left up, idk if they're targetting me specifically due to me being so outspoken at how bad their product, customer service, and company as a whole is or what.

Anyways, they claim that they and LTT are still in conversation to find a positive solution. But from what LTT reps have said, sounds like Secret lab simply dropped the ball hard and LTT was left standing there like WTF?

Here's their response:

Well let me start this off by saying it is both a bitter sweet thing to see that Asus has been dropped from LTT. I am happy because this is something that both I and a lot of other people who have been burned by Asus have asked for. But also to see that a company that use to be known for quality high end products and customer support has fallen so far from what they use to be. When building computers for both myself and others it was very easy for me to recommend Asus products even though they usually costed more. But they WERE truly one of the few companies where if you were willing to spend the little extra it cost to buy one of their products that it was worth it. You not only good a high end product that worked well but also one were they had the customer support to deal with any issue that arrived and had a positive outcome for their customers. But just like a lot of very big companies they flew to close to the sun and crashed and burned. Even if you look at their stock market for ASUSTek stocks you can see the issues. in the past year there stock was worth 489.50$ USD and it has just plummeted over the past year to 448.50 as per current market pricing. Pre Xmas of 2023 they were at 406$USD. And like every stock it went up for Xmas and is now on a steady decline again. IF a company is doing well you usually will still see a decline after something like Xmas but not to this extent. This just goes to show that even investors are not liking how Asus is functioning right now. I bet that by the end of this month Asus will be back down to around 400$ or so a stock. But I digress on talking about the stock market and will also be one to say that I am still very new at playing he stock market and actually investing myself with about a year of experience.

That all being said, as for my case with Asus. After being informed by the Asus rep on this page that “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. However, considering that you are already in contact with our highest level of support, we strongly advise that you continue your connection with our CEO Office. Our team will respond and continue to assist you. We are determined to resolve this matter as soon as possible. We value your feedback and are constantly looking for ways to enhance our products and services. Thank you for your patience.” The fact that I am dealing with CEO's Office and I’m still being treated this horribly just goes to show that this problem is rooted all the way at the top. After not hearing anything form Karl Madanba (ACICA) from Nov 14th till i messaged Asus again on the 11th of December to still not get a response from Karl till the 21st of December where he stated that he was sorry for the delays and that he was sick... don’t mind m skepticism on this since a month and a half or so is a very long time to be sick and not have someone take over your position or send out some kind of email saying that there would be a delay in response time. As I had not received any email back from Karl on the 22nd when I responded I figured there would be a delay in response due to the Xmas and New Year’s. However it’s been just shy of 2 full weeks, and 2 business weeks since the end of the year i figured that it had taken to long. I was hopeful that they would be like hey thanks for the wait. We are really sorry that it’s been like this but we had not 3080/4080 in stock or production since we were launching the 4080 super... so Here if you can wait a bit longer we will give you that instead. However next to Karl stating that they would be doing a buy back for my broken GPU i never got any email past the response they sent on the 21st. I emailed Karl again today and he ones again said sorry and thanked me for my patients.... trust me i am no longer patient and them thanking me for my patients is making me even more frustrated if i am being honest. In the Email that I got from Karl today he stated that they would not refund the shipping that i had paid to be sent a broken GPU twice. So I’m now down 200$. Ill see if I can do a charge back but I’m not going to get my hopes up. Karl also told me that I would need to send the broken GPU back to them before they could send me my check. The problem with this is, they responded to me after all the sales were over... I would also be without my computer again for I’m sure 2 weeks. I emailed them back and said that this was just unacceptable. Karl also said that they sent the paperwork last month. However after scouwering my email box and my junk mail box i could see that this is a lie.

I really hope this horror show ends for me soon so I can just wash my hand of Asus like I did with Logitech. Now to do some good research into what company actually cares about their consumers and actually back's there products properly. Please EVGA start making more PC components again! I know you dropped out of GPU's and I 100% support why you did it... even though I wish you had not XD. Ill probably make a post ones this whole ordeal is over with but only time will tell as to when that may happen.

That being said I will continue to skip all LTT videos that are sponsored by Asus.

Wicked Cushions, currently getting a lot of sponsor spots on the channels. This is the state of mine, that I bought for a corsair virtuoso, after 11 months. As you can see, they're kinda falling apart. the glue has come unstuck almost completely from one cushion, and both have lots of cracking on the material. I really don't think they're all that great for cooling either. The standard earcups from corsair pushed my ear against the inside of the headset, so they're at least more comfortable in that respect..... but that almost feels like bad earcup design from corsair, not so much good design from WC but I suppose that's debatable. either way I feel like, at the very least, LTT should drop the claim of it being crack free..... it's clearly not.

FWIW my cushions have been holding up great so far under a ton of use, but mine are the simple ones with only one material rather than the multi-material setup yours have.

I posted about WickedCushions in here when they first became a sponser and it was seemingly ignored. I also have a set of Virtuosos and I bought the cushions as a replacement for the aging originals that came with the headphones. The WC ones are no better than the originals, they aren't more comfortable, they aren't any cooler, they're just a decent replacement if your original ones need replacing.

I have a mate who has them as well and he has the same complaints. They're fine to replace damaged cushions but don't expect anything better than the originals.

I've also seen complaints online for the cushions for some noise cancelling headphones, such as the Sony XM4s, about how they ruin the noise cancelling cabillities.

Did you try and get a replacement? Their warranty seems to be for 12 months.

My personal issue with wicked cushions is that any change in headphone earpads WILL chage their sound, somtimes quite drastically. This isn't communicated at all in the recent sponsor spots on LTT and assosiated channels. See this topic for more information.

I didn't buy one of their products and after thinking about those complaints, I probably never will, instead I would always replace earpads with original ones.

Same here - my straight black has done amazing for over a year on my Steelseries. I love them.

Same here, been running the cushions on my Virtuoso XTs for a bit over a year after the original ones came apart 2 years after I got them. Could be a case of YMMV based on your headphone usage/natural surroundings.

They do move the virtuoso's drivers a bit further away from my ears, as the original ones pressed on my ears a bit, and do increase the weight a bit. Otherwise, I've had a pretty reasonable experience with them.

i got two sets of wicked cushions' Earpads for Sennheiser

one for me and one for my brother. i have the pc37x and I found that they gave the headphones a more woofy sound than before (not in a good way)

my brother has the "game one" and he found that it also messed with the bass performance, he also found that it impacted the highs as well.

they advertise them as "Superior Sound Performance" and I don't find that to be the case.
