FPGA's. and Protein Folding

As FPGA's are effective at churning through data with every cycle would they be effective for F@H writing the code may be difficult and slow but if tis were done would they be effective?

they still have to be fast as a work unit expires. If it doesn't finish the work unit in time then theres no point in using it.
