I don't get it Intel? - 12th Gen Coolers

ColinLTT

Intel’s included CPU cooler’s have been function over form for YEARS – but their new line of in-the-box coolers are looking to change that, and they may even offer better performance too.

Can't it handle up to 80 watts? It is actually perfect for the 12400, if a bit loud , letting it boost a little higher than stock clocks at a steady roughly 80 degrees.

As someone who had temps go to the low 90s on a 12400F on full load on the stock cooler, I would say spend a little bit of money and get a cheap aftermarket cooler which will do better than that
I'm sure you can set lower power limits to mitigate things to some extent
But then you're not making full use of the CPU you paid for

Who ever uses stock coolers anyway? Should just get rid of them!

Yeah, who needs a heck-ton of scrap metal?

It should be reasonable to only include stock coolers for at least not for higher than 12400. As the coolers literally become scrap metal, considering more power-hungry CPUs.

I edit my posts more often than not

Is it just me or is Linus standing in front of a green screen here? The pictures seems off.

I was digging through some junk looking for something else when I ran across something.

https://www.amazon.com/Antec-Cooler-Intel-Socket-A30/dp/B083PTR12P/

So these super jank cheap coolers that use AMD spring clip to mount the cooler always come with an adapter to connect that spring clip down to an Intel socket. 115x in this case for the Antec cooler, using Amazon links because they're a little more permanent than eBay or Aliexpress links. I imagine it won't be too terribly long until you can order in something from China that's got the LGA 1700 mounting kit to fit an AMD spring clip cooler to 12th gen Intel and put that Wraith Prism cooler on a 12700K and see how it does.  Kind of surprised Alex didn't whip up a custom mount to fit AM4 on 1700.
