Creative Stage 2.1 with Sony Bravia eARC not working - help

I bought a creative stage V1 by accident I actually thought it was the V2 I was ordering but I made a mistake. I decided to try it anyway.

I have Sony Bravia (android tv) with the usual Bravia sync features. The stage has and eArc HDMI port.

No matter what I do I can't get any sound through the stage speakers using arc.

I have went into the settings on the tv, made sure everything is set correctly. In the external devices menu the audio system is in the list but when I click "Enable" it doesn't ever change to connected.

 

Any ideas? I may just have to return the soundbar and get a Sony one for 3x the price.
