(external) Hard drive storage showing up (and acting) incorrectly

Okay so I've been having a long series of horrible events the past week and after trying to make a windows thing with the windows media installation tool, I had accidentally clicked the wrong drive and erased all my data on my hard drive (still kinda trying to find a way to get it back but I may have found a way) and after all that happened, my device went from a max storage of 4TB down to 32GB and I have not found a way to fix it. Wanting to get this fixed BEFORE I factory reset my computer since it had some pretty important files.
