MSI Game Try It

i have owned this msi mobo for a long time. few days ago i got two new ram sticks, so i decided to try "Game Try It".

it crashed my pc like crazy. i thought it was the new ram sticks that were causing the crash.

then i started getting the cyan screen of death, something about kernel error.

then windows wouldn't load at all, and windows usb couldn't boot up.

then i remembered about the "game try it", and i turned it off, and everything is ok now.

is it just my pc, or is this "game try it" function really buggy?

thanks.

I think it's safe to say that it is probably really buggy...

MSI does not talk much about this feature but they say this: "This option is for end-users who want to have better performance on gaming but are not familiar with detailed DDR timing adjustment.". So I guess the feature tightens up timings but you should really only use XMP or DOCP, then you make sure you use settings that are tested to work with your RAM kit.

it's a shame though, it sounded like some kind of speed breakthrough for gaming.

Pretty sure that is just the marketing team trying to make it sound more exiting than it actually is.

If you are interested in tweaking RAM other than using XMP / DOCP, do everything manually then. Then you will have much more control over what happens and know exactly when you tweaked too far and then what to dile back to fix it again.
