First time builder and this is my parts list, I have already got the CPU cooler and GPU.

Heathinator

Budget : £730 for remaining parts

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games at 1080p, programming, 3D modelling and game design potentially.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have peripherals, current monitor is 1080p 60Hz. Maybe the power supply is too high wattage for this build, I will also have to overclock the ram to 3600 MHz as the motherboard maxes at 3200 MHz.

Don't buy a 3700X, get a 5600X instead (or a 5800X, but cooling may be a bit weak)

Rest is quite good 👍

It says that the B550 chipset may need a bios update if I use the 5600X and I don't have any other CPU to update it with. Or would I have not have to worry about this depending on where I buy the motherboard from?

If it's a new one it'll be already compatible, as the BIOS versions are from more than 1 year back now...
