Would a Sony Xperia XZ3 make a good action camera to mount on motorcycle?

Hi, so I would like to record my motorcycle rides and was looking at action cameras. Unfortunately the ones here in my country cost quite alot even second hand. So I was wondering if an older flagship phone could do the job with a helmet chin mount or chest mount. Had a look around the local market and noticed the Sony XZ3 is within budget and reviews say its got a pretty decent camera. I would like to know if this would work out and be able to capture smooth riding footage. If it can record in 1080P in good quality without going out of focus while riding, I'd be a happy man. Some insight would be helpful. Thanks.

I'd go with that over a phone because of 2 main reasons.

1. the size, a phone is more prone to damage due to its size.
2. and the image stabilization, its awezome on these tiny devices.

But they are also watertight, and come with a variety of mounting options.

 

 

And a Gopro is just a name, i would stay away from those.

Had a couple gopro's they are just like the more expensive Nike shoes.
You pay for the name but the hardware is garbage quality.

 

And yes the Sony ones are smaller then most Gopro's.
But if both these options arent to your taste there are some imitation Gopro's that really do a good job.
