It wont be able to live render effects at 4k but just editing clips together should work fine.

Editing 4k footage on a 1080 screen though will be interesting as you wont be able to ever preview anything youve edited. But then again cellphone 4k footage is going to be placebo resolution so it will look the same as 1080 footage

Your PC is probably better than Linus's own budget 4K editing rig, so I'm going to go with "Should be perfectly fine". Honestly if you're just a burgeoning YouTuber I might say doing 4K is overkill anyway. Chucking more RAM in it may be a wise move, though.

As for video editing, DaVinci Resolve has a very capable freeware version, though it may have a bit of a steep learning curve.

Should be fine, I make my capture box (which has an i7 3770, 16GB of RAM, and a 1050Ti) suffer through source footage that's 4K60 200Mbps. As for something actually edit with, I can only really recommend DaVinci Resolve for free shit. It's got a bit of a learning curve and a semi-annoying UI (though that's probably just because I'm used to Premiere), but for being free it can do so much.

I admit to not exactly being an expert in video editing, but I don't see why editing in 4K on that rig today would be any more demanding than editing in 4K on that rig three years ago. Especially considering that it's just iPhone footage, not exactly high-end stuff.

DaVinci needs a very high-end system and blows the mid-end system. (Hollywood-class, but just great for color correction).

I recommend Adobe Premiere Pro. (but you that it's not free!)
