can NVIDIA graphic driver for PC card used for laptop graphic card?

so i've just done doing a fresh install on my asus X550v laptop with NVIDIA GTX 950m and now the brightness control isn't working at all. i've try using the nvidia control panel but it did not do me any good. after scraping through nvidia forums, i found that someone giving a heads-up that ASUS creates their own graphic card (nvidia is just providing the chip)so i suspect that i should install driver from ASUS website, not from nvidia. i found the driver but it didn't tell me is it for the pc card or for mobile card. please help me, is it ok if i use PC driver for a laptop?

Brightness control on laptops with igpu and dgpu is done on the primary graphics processor (iGPU). Make sure you have the latest igpu driver installed along with latest driver from nvidia. Manufacturers rarely go all the trouble of releasing their own drivers.
