Gpu is only being 50 to 60% Utilized in vr?

Hello I've been encountering this issue where when I'm playing steamvr my gpu is not as powerful as it should be.
kinda weird just wondering if this is normal or my pc is messed up?

Specs:
Cpu fx-6300

Gpu GTX 950 windforce
SSD 60 gb (for windows)
HDD 1tb (for games)
RAM 12gb ddr3

Whats the FPS you're getting and what are the Temperatures?

 

Could be Thermal throttling

how much is your CPU and ram Utilization?

what game and setting and res are you playing at?

cpu is usually at like 95 to 100% but ram stays at like 8gb or something used

they are usually fine

stays around 70C

Guessing it's because you have a 3 core Bulldozer chip.

 

And a GTX 950, when SteamVR recommends a GTX 970 as *minimum*

well the cpu is at its limits

that's what holding your gpu back

crank the setting a little higher

you will see how your gpu utilization goes up

CPU is the BottleNeck here. U need to Upgrade Motherboard and CPU to increase performance and can keep everything same.

 

Then next upgrade will be Ram to DDR4 (hence also need new CPU and Mobo which supports DDR4)

what if i saved up for like a fx 8000 or something like that or do you think i need to go straight for the am4 motherbored

Straight for AM4. Putting any money into an FX system now is like setting that money on fire.

If ur Going for AM4 motherboard, get one of Ryzen 3 or Ryzen 5
