well let's just say if I were to binge watch a whole show with a story similar to this one... I would get bored... but if I watch it weekly then It would be tolerable. Are there any other shows from recent season that is like gripping?

My problem is even when I don't binge, I struggle to watch anime that doesn't keep my interest for at least 60% of the episode (assuming its the typical 20mins~ long ep, excluding OP and ED).

To be fair, as I did just binge about 185~ anime series/movies in the past 2.5 months, its not surprising that I struggle to watch anime that I find ever so slightly boring. On the bright side, due to my heavy binging, at least anime I found boring at first became rather interesting and watchable (after revisiting a month~ later). 

 

On a side note, if you think watching 2.5~ series/movies per day on average was a tad severe, I probably was playing too much video games before then as anime replaced all my gaming time (i.e. I've completely stopped playing video games apart from the occasional WoWs) so...welp? I have too much free time?

I can't stand to watch anime weekly these days. So I'm on the Binge side of things.
Even if an anime interest me enough to watch a few episodes, I just know that unless I'm truly invested in the story(like recovery of an mmo junkie) or in it for the entertainment factor(like Konosuba), I will end up dropping it(like Re:Creators) due to lack of care to watch it weekly. Could have the best story and animation out there, if the motivation isn't there, it goes in the dropped list.

I dropped Re:Creators too... And I was binging it even...  
I do binge on series but that is dependent on my motivation to watch and on either recommendations or my own interest, the latter applies to me watching things weekly (AKA. Macademia and now Violet Evergarden)
I'm considering trying drama anime for once... after hearing for the gazillionth times how great Rakugou Shinjuu is... I'll probably be watching March Comes In Like A Lion in March and then Your Lie in April in April cause it's better that way :))

Well I once binged all 600+ episodes and 150+ chapter of onepiece in two weeks so... yeah... I feel ya :))
I based what I want to watch on the music of the anime, especially the OP, sometimes it pays off (i.e Death Parade) and sometimes it pulls a Guilty Crown :))

Hi, i would like some suggestions for new animes. School and work have been stressing me out and I just realize what little media consumption i had recently are mostly youtube. I need some actual entertainment to ease my stress and anxiety.

 

I am willing to check out any animes you recommend but I usually do not watch animes with the following genres/attributes:

 

No ecchi please, i would rather watch porn featuring real life people if i need some stimulation

 

no romance please, i grew out of teenage high school age quite a while ago and watching unrealistic high school cartoon characters fall in love is like watching children playing a game of tag. 

 

No animes older than 2000s please. I avoid watching them just like how i avoid black and white movies.

 

no mainstream animes like one piece and dragon ball z please.

 

no shounen animes please, i would like to see animes with more mature themes.

 

However, if you do believe animes with any of the above is truly a masterpiece worthly of mention, by all means, mention it away. I did say i am willing to check out any recommendations.

Fate zero, it is awesome.

madoka magica, awesome like all other gen urobuchi's work.

Made in the abyss because i have a serious affinity for and appreciation of good dark tragedy.

I am usually a person who loves anti hero though. It is refreshing to see a MC who doesn’t rant about love, friendship, justice and all those anime cliches all the time. The problem with light is he is all of that plus being a dick. Anti heroes do not believe in justice or share any of the morale traits we commonly see heroes have. They are villeins in every sense of the word but they still end up doing the right thing even if unorthodox. Light is just a cliche hero, who I hate, and a dick, who I hate even more.

Not all anti-heroes end up doing the right thing, and Light is definitely in that category.

 

Not all of them are villainous either, they just don't go about things in the stereotypical good guy way. The Punisher is a prime anti-hero example, and yet he has an incredibly strong sense of justice and protecting the innocent. The anti-hero part of him is how and why he exacts justice, often in some of the most brutal ways possible.

Rewatched Cowboy Bebop this past week. Been thinking back on Cowboy Bebop and how I should rate the show.
Probably a 7/10? Ending itself was like an 8 or so. Maybe a notch higher than that.
Overall a highly recommend it. Especially to people just getting into anime, since you're able to watch it at your own pace. And you don't really need to think about any special plot that's going on.

Bought some books.

The book on the lower right is amazing. I totally understand why so many middle aged women read erotic novels like 50 shades of gray now.

It's also so refreshing to see a harem series end as it should.

 

I should probably add that it is one of the shows Linus decided to endorse in his Crunchyroll sponsorship spots. I wonder if he realize that it involves the main character having sex with several underage characters. My guess is no.

 

 

I'm currently working on translating it since the group that is suppose to do it demands that you PayPal someone money and then you get access to a work-in-progress translation of it, which seems sketchy to me.

No but seriously, TLR holds a special place in my heart. I've been reading it for ~7 years now and it was one of the main reasons I got into anime and manga. It's trash, but I love it.

And sister testament was just because that translation group was being dicks and wanted people to pay to get access to translations.
