Best TV soundbar for under £200 ?

Actual_Criminal

So I posted a few weeks ago about soundbars and after your comments and research; I have decided to buy one to go with my TV.

So best soundbar for £200 or under? (Doesn't have to be £200, if it does an amazing job at £100 then I'll take that - I'm basically looking for the 3070 series Nvidia GPU equivalent but for a soundbar if that makes sense.)

Not really interested in a subwoofer and surround speakers etc. Would be nice, but don't really want to use the extra space.

My TV model if that matters: Samsung UE65TU8300KXXU

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 16-core 5950X

CPU Cooler: Artic Freezer 2 AIO 360mm Radiator

If you want cheap, you'd be hard pressed to find a soundbar that can do a better job than a 2.1 speaker setup for the same price point.  You can get those for $100 or less.

Ok, so I am looking at a Bose TV speaker and noticed on the specs there is an option for 'HDR' for Soundbars... I don't understand. I thought HDR was a TV/monitor display thing? Can anyone explain?

It is for visuals.  Which is why it says "no support".  I guess either some consumers are idiots--or they just use the same table for any devices they sell.

Bose is overpriced shite, imho.

So HDR refers to passthrough most likely as to whether or not it is supported.

so if your Soundbar is also serving as a media hub (like an AVR or HDMI Switch) you'd want to know if it could passthrough HDR signal to your TV. This one cannot.

of course if you are connecting your HDR devices into the TV directly and then using the ARC/eARC connection from the TV-to-Soundbar then this isn't an issue.

I'd recommend the following at your price point

https://www.amazon.co.uk/JBL-Deep-Bass-Sound-Home-Black/dp/B086KSPZYM?ref_=ast_sto_dp

Currently have to game on Wife's PC (see profile) so instead here's my Home Theater Setup!

TV: 2019 65" Vizio P-Series Quantum X | Media Streamer: Roku Ultra 2020 | UHD Player: Panasonic UB820 | Consoles: PS5 with 4TB external SSC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo WiiU (Ethernet to everything)

SOUND
5.1.4 AVR: Marantz SR6014 | 2 Polk S55 Mains, Polk S35 Center, 2 Polk S50 Sides, 4 Polk S15 Height Channels, HTS 12 Subwoofer

https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/best/budget

RTings has a good roundup of "budget" (Seemingly $100 to $350) soundbars.

Their reviews are purely mathematical and include a nice easy way to verify compatibility.

At $200 though, if you have the space, I'd suggest grabbing a bundle deal on Facebook Marketplace/Craigslist with a receiver (that has optical in and/or ARC/eARC) and a couple bookshelf/floor standing speakers.

  • 3 weeks later...

The Samsung HW-A530 is decent. Recently got it for my parents and they're very happy with it for around 180€.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
