I wouldn't worry about DX12 anytime soon. DX11 has been around for a while now and developers currently have no plans on leaving it. That said, even Windows 8 only supports up to DX11.1.

I also have a 470 and I've calculated this is the right time to upgrade... Plus, the noise and temps drive me mental by now.

My rule-of-thumb is:

-Get a mid range card between 200 and 400 dollars. (What I did when I got the 470)

-Replace it when and only when there is a new card in the same price range that outperforms the old one by 50% or more.

I'm pretty sure the 770 will finally achieve that, and my 470 will be relegated to a different computer.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Yea, the sound and temps bugged me a bunch as well. But about 3 months ago I got a Antec 620 and put it on there, temps no longer go over 50c at stock clocks, and even at 830 MHz core, don't go over 60c :)

Plus not that much noise. and the ~45% OC really helps a lot. The way I see it, I might have got one more cycle out of it, because I agree on stock air it would be on its way out of my rig as well. lol

As much as I have my doubts about this being true, I hope it is, better graphics are always nice :D. Then again so many games are still using dx9/10 and with the next generation of consoles using a modified version of dx 11.1 API I doubt developers will be any quicker to adopt this.

DX12 is still in the Alpha testing phase... we are looking at about 2-3 more years before its launch

I don't think this is real. dx11 is going to be sticking around for some time.

I would wait for the HD 8000 series or the GTX 800 series personally.

this would be possible,I mean windows blue could have support for direct X 12.0.

though I don't think this is the case,I'm betting on this being a troll.
