Philips tv 'magical' error

I'm curious if someone heard about this. I got a Philips android tv (PUS7906). Works as is should except one thing: the remote only wants to work when the tv is on, meaning that I can't turn it on. It works between 100 clicks, buttons not stuck cuz like I wrote, only when tv is off.

Change the batteries in the remote.  You'd be surprised the glitches that can show up as the batteries start to die.
