Looking for a capture card

I want to record my gameplay but I find that AMD's record function in driver is just suck and sometimes make some DirectX errors to game. Also tried OBS but the performance lost cannot be acceptable. So I'm planning to buy a capture card to record my gameplay.
The problem is, I'm using a 4k 144Hz monitor. Is there any capture card support 4k 144Hz passthrough? recording resolution is OK to be 60Hz, both external and internal type can be acceptable.

capture card isnt gonna do what you wanna do

it doesnt encode, it just captures feed

you still need something to encode with, which is what you're concerned about, from my understanding

But I can use another computer to encode it, right?
And I also noticed that some external type capture card have a built-in encoder that can record directly to a SD card or something like that.

ah yes, this does exist indeed

but im not aware of any that's capable of 4k144, elgato might have one though

4k60 should be common

yea, you can

but i recommend looking into doing it locally first before anything else

what CPU are you using?

are you looking for recording manually or something like shadowplay where it will record the past x minutes?

5950X. Yes I know It's a very nice CPU. But in real-life experience, since I'm using 4k resolution, it need quite high bitrate to record every letter clearly. OBS's software encoding will cause about 20 fps down (about 110 to 90) and also random lags.

what's your cpu preset (i assume software x264...?)
have you tried allocating your game and OBS to different cores/thread in task manager?

I'm not at home now so I can't check for this. But I think I changed it to some kind of HEVC (maybe GPU accelerated one? or not).
