Building a overkill pc

Jonpb

Budget (including currency):around 6000 or 7000 USD

Country: us

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ill be playing a games and doing some editing

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I just want to build a pc that is as fast as it gets i guess 😅

I already have a Intel Core i9-12900K and a MSI MPG Z690 CARBON And the case is a Corsair iCUE 5000X

currently working on a list for a kit to make a custom loop, but you could just toss an an NH-D15 temporarily

Overkill = wasted money most of the time.

The RTX 3090 or RX 6900XT at the best gpu's currently from Nvidia/AMD but they are not the best in terms of value. You can usually save a lot by dropping down to a 3080 ti or 6800XT.

You should be fine with 32GB Ram unless you intend on doing something like 8K editing.

A 1000W psu should be enough, but no harm in going to 1200W. You certainly don't need 1600W.

If you're only counting the tower:

Get an RTX 3090, 64GB DDR5, and a few 4/8TB SSDs.  (1 or 2 NVME, and 2-4 SATA for bulk storage.)

It would be assinine, and a waste of money, but if that's your goal?  Have at it.

An AIO would be a lot simpler. An Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360mm or even 420mm are usually priced pretty well.

If you do decide to go for a custom loop then websites like EK have a configurator to make it a bit easier.

most people know they're wasting money when it comes to overkill

you also can't really spend $6,500 if you want to make good choices with things like a 1200W PSU and only one NVME SSD

Some people think more expensive = better which isn't always the case. Not saying the op is in that camp but it does happen.

You could spend $6500 if you went with expensive parts/peripherals etc but there is no point when you can probably spend half and still get a really good system.

I mean, more expensive =/= better, but typically better = more expensive

I mean that $6500 PCs typically require at least a little wasting

like the $600 8tb sata SSD, the $750 in fans, the $300 in rgb for the fans, the $500 case etc

FO48U is an OLED 120hz 4k 48" panel

that's a compact way of saying this

the two farthest corners are 48" apart (big)

it refreshes 120 times per second (120h)

it has 3840x2160 pixels (4k/2160p)

each pixel is individual making it look really good (OLED)

problem: it costs $1500

Really this is as fast as it gets, shove a 3090 or 6900xt and done

If you wanna go faster you will need to overclock, if you are sqeamish with voltage dont bother with more expensive cooling, boards, or ram

If you arent sqeamish of high voltage

(1.5v+ cpu, 1.75v ddr4 ram), then maybe this is what you are looking for

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b4WNXb

Custom loop for cooling, prefferably subzero the rams with a tec for better overclockability (will need insulation tho),  absolutely do not bother if you are sqeamish of voltage because youll still get the same performance as a cheaper system

Here is a rough idea. Of course the gpu is terrible value but that is for you to decide. Needs a cooler and ram as well.

Stuck a 3440 x 1440 monitor in there but if you prefer 4K/8K etc then of course your choice. Obviously your framerate won't be as high.
