What Do You Drive?

Snapy1

I'm not like a huge car guy, But I drive a Chevy Bolt (2017-2018 i want to say, i don't remember exactly) in a 'Arctic Blue' that was my dads before i got my license. It gets me by fine, I'm glad it has CarPlay, because I'm a techie and I can just connect it to the dash and not have to look at my phone for the map. It being all electric is a mixed bag imo. On one hand, it lets me drive fast (which i like), it doesn't contribute to global warming, and i don't have to pay for gas. But, on the other hand, forgetting to charge can be devastating, and there's not exactly a quick way (and cheap) to charge your car out and about like gas which is pretty nerve racking. But, for the most part, the car gets me by and i like driving it. Again, i'm not exactly a 'car guy' but I like look 80s/90s cars, like the boxy ones. I kinda wanna get one and put in a new sterio and drive it. Altho the thought of gas, and co2 and stuff kinda scares me and also i don't have enough money to throw around like that so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

A 2004 Ford Focus ZX5. She has 230,000 miles on her and she is still going. The thing feels like it has a 3 hamster power motor, but it sure does the job.

I drive a 2019 Jeep Renegade.  I know that's a controversial pick.  I like it.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

I drive a Peugeot 407 S. I usually bike into work/town now, so I have a Norco VLT A2 29er (Shimano E7000 ebike), with upgraded fork (Rockshock Yari?) and groupset (SRAM GX), as well as other bits and pieces.

I drive a 2007 Lexus GS300. It's a bit of a pain on petrol but it's a hell of a lot better (and safer!) than the other options I was looking at.

That's an F in the profile pic

I bought this new in 2005. It's getting a bit long in the tooth, but it's been paid off forever, and with a 5-speed manual it'll probably last another few decades. No real complaints, outside of doing one brake job it's been routine fluids and filters. I'd hazard a guess that no one makes a car this reliable anymore. Ok, only small complaint is that in 2021 no car in Texas with our 75mph+ interstates and highways has any business only having 105hp; Outside of first gear it's pretty pokey.

2015 that I bought in early 2016, my usual daily now. Just a little 500cc-class bike, but it sips fuel and has been pretty solid mechanically. Covid has really put a damper on destination riding, but some day I'll go stretch the fuel range again out to a campsite or somewhere notable.

Yup, even on the new mild hybrid cars it's very rare to find a manual transmission, they're usually all automatic (the most common I see are VW DSG or CVTs). Ford on the other hand with their 1l 3cyl mild-hybrid 125 or 155hp are available with exclusively a manual 6-speed transmission.

Honda actually made a big deal about the CR-Z having a manual... only for no one to buy them because they're really mediocre otherwise.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

My daily is a 2016 Honda HR-V EX-L AWD in Milano Red. It's got over 150,000 miles on it, but I've only put about 1,000 of those on there. I picked it up dirt cheap thanks to those miles. Next cheapest HR-V or even Civic that new I could find locally was nearly $5,000 more. Interior is like new minus a small nick above the radio. Exterior looks great at 10-15 feet. Up close, you see all the rock chips and scratches but for 150,000 miles it ain't bad. I did a load of preventative maintenance right after buying it so it runs and drives like new.

My other car is a 1996 Honda Civic CX Hatchback in Midori Green Pearl with a B16A2 engine swap from a 99 Civic Si in it. I've had it for over 14 years. It's got 206,000 miles on the body and somewhere around 150,000 on the motor. Transmission? Who knows? It's from a Japanese Civic SiR so it's low-ish at least. There's a big ol' list of mods but I'm not gonna list them right now. It doesn't get driven much due to it needing a bit of work (timing belt) that I'm putting off till after I have foot surgery. Plus the clutch pedal hurts my foot right now (it being a race clutch makes it even worse). It sure is a load of fun though. I want to drive it SOOOO bad but it's probably gonna sit for at least 8-10 more weeks.

I just sold my old daily today which was a 2007 Honda Fit Sport in Nighthawk Black Pearl with 196,000 miles. I'm going to miss that car, but now a friend of mine who needed a car has himself something much more efficient and reliable than his old Blazer.

I personally happen to put a lot of effort in driving my legs around and making race car sounds.

I assume EX-L is the highest trim level? My grandfather bought one brand new with the highest trim like (Executive, as it's called here in Germany) and gave it away ~2000km later for no reason but "the engine is a little loud and slow! (what do you expect from a 1.5l eco-friendly n/a engine coupled with a CVT (because he doesn't want to drive manual transmissions)?)" and "I wanted the (lighter and brighter) Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic instead of the Morpho Blue Metallic (darker, purplish-greenish blue that isn't really attractive)!" He bought it before it came out and before he drove it and before he has even seen what that colour would look like in real life.

Before 2020 EX-L was the highest trim. Now theres a touring trim. In the states we get the 1.8. Some places have 1.5 turbo options, but pretty sure they put the 1.8 in there so they can build everything in Mexico + to move people that want more power to the CR-V.

Trek 800 Sport, it looks kinda like this:

2002_Trek_800_Sport.thumb.JPG.bad09a25d43f4679d6782993bcfe681d.JPG

Currently out of commission, needs a new tube and has break issues (I've been riding with messed up brakes but you can't do much with a flat...) I take advantage of the local transit systems from time to time, though COVID has decreased the frequency.

I'll be driving my parent's Subarus in a few months, and I hope to get a Legacy GT as a first car... we'll see if I can afford gas for one of those. It will definitely be something with a manual transmission.

Main PC: Ryzen 1600 @4GHz, 16GB 2933 MHz DDR4, 1060 6GB blower card.

Laptop: ThinkPad T580 (i5, iGPU, FHD, 16GB RAM, 256 SSD+1TB HDD). Used with both the regular and extended-run batteries (RIP power bridge).

For 2016, yes. It just adds leather and Navigation over the EX. Really, I would have preferred an EX but when you are buying used, you can't be as picky.

Actually, for 2021, EX-L is back to being the highest trim. For 2016-2018 it was just LX, EX, and EX-L then in 2019 they added Sport between LX and EX and Touring at the top. Then it appears they removed Touring for 2021. But yeah, they all have the 1.8L SOHC iVTEC R18Z9 engine. Basically a minor evolution of the original R18A1 first seen in the 8th Gen Civic. Not a bad motor but I do wish it had just a little more punch.

I am just able to drive (just got my permit) my 2005 ford f150, she runs, but she can't get to 70 mph. For some odd reason, it still has crank windows even though its from 2005. In dark green (not my color choice, it was cheap and well maintained) it has a little under 350,000 miles on it. (it was part of a fleet, so maintained by a fleet mechanic)

please tag me for a response, It's really hard to keep tabs on every thread I reply to. thanks!!
