Logitech LS21 Multimedia Speaker - No Power

Cysero

Product Information: Logitech LS21 (M/N: S-00042) Multimedia Speaker

Problem: Speakers no longer seem to be getting any power. Green power light no longer shows and there is not the usual hum/feedback when the speaker is powered on but not plugged into a device.

Background Information: Around a year ago these speakers stopped working as they should. Initially the problem was a flickering green power light on the volume controller and intermittent sound before it gave up altogether. The fuse is fine and the speakers have been sat on a desk for 10 or so years so have not been moved regularly. There is no difference when the cables are moved so it is unlikely there is a loose connection. I have tried them in different sockets around the house and it has not made a difference. These speakers are relatively old and basic but they have had very little use. It is likely they will cost more to repair than to replace however, if there is a simple fix I would rather that than take them down to the 'recycling centre'.

On closer inspection there does appear to be some funky stuff on the internals in the attached images.

Also found these two links which would suggest there isn't much that can be done:

Thank you Logitech for the planned obsolescence 😒

Any suggestions or similar experiences?
