Weird issue with Instagram on Oneplus 8T

I can't seem to find any information on how or why this is happening, but whenever I take a photo within the Instagram app, it seems to add a huge amount of smoothing and color blowout. This happens with both the front and rear facing cameras, while the stock camera app doesn't share the issue.

I'm wondering if there is a way of turning this "feature" off or anything I can do to make photos taken in the app like the ones from the stock camera app.
