3080ti/3090

in honesty though, I'd probably wait for 3080S/3090ti or whatever

Probably a used 2060 super. I used to want to get a 3060 but it ended up disappointing. The 2060 super is basically within 5% or so of the performance of the 3060 most of the time and even equal in some benchmarks while it would be cheaper in a world where the GPU's would sell at MSRP.

The RTX 3070 is already a great value proposition. I'm just a bit greedy and would want the RTX 3080 for a bit more power.

The RTX 3080 Ti would've been okay at a $999 MSRP... but clearly that didn't happen.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

must say some results were surprising but others were not.

the 3060 ti is hands down the best value fr money gpu rn(if sold at msrp)

i thought more people would pick the radeon 6900xt since its almost 3090(quite a bit behind in some cases but slightly better in few) but a lot cheaper at $999 msrp

That's what it comes down to. Tech bloggers have the resources to show off the greatest but most of us have budgets and just want what will get us the biggest bang for our buck.

3070 or 3080 for me. The 3070 is a bit too pricey for its bracket, but the value is there, and I don't really have the kind of money to throw at anything better. Ideally I'd have seen the 3070 at $449 and the 3070Ti at $499. 3080 at $599 and 3080Ti at $999.

I bought a 3070 for MSRP from Best Buy yesterday, but I am feeling some pangs of regret for not shooting for the 3070Ti that dropped right afterward. But since my 1080 died earlier this year and I've been slumming it on my haggard af R9 390 I had before, it'll be a night and day difference.

I didn't answer the poll because I already own an EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra that I bought at launch for MSRP.

Probably the 3070, maybe the 3080. The ti variants at MSRP look very expensive. Though, when I built a new PC in October I went 3080ti as weirdly it was cheaper than the 3080, and only about 30% more than the 3070 & 3070ti, which were about the same price.

The 70 tier cards from Nvidia, or their AMD equivalents (who aren't as consistent with their naming), normally offer a pretty good balance between price and performance.

I note not a huge amount of love for AMD. Hopefully they can improve ray tracing next gen, and FSR gains traction over DLSS, to close the feature gap and get properly back in the game.
