No bootup on Alienware R6

I am a high school esports coach.  One of my players brought in his computer, because it had suddenly stopped working.  When we started, the orange power light, and the case fans, would come on for a couple seconds and then turn off.  I installed a new power supply, but it made no change.  I also took the ram out, but this also changed nothing.  At this point, I am afraid his motherboard is fried.  My thought being that the BIOS is trying to load, failing for some reason, and shutting everything down.  Anyone have an idea on what else to test?

 

The mobo is a ipkbl-sc.  I really do not want to pop it off to see what cpu is installed.
