PC unresponsive with a black screen after idling for a few hours

MrP6k

My specs:

I5 2500k

Tp67b+

Gtx 770

Cx550

16gb ram (4x4)

240gb ssd

1tb hdd

This has been happening alot recently.

I leave my pc for a few hours, it ends up unresponsive with a blank black screen (once it was a white screen and purple on my second screen, the other 2 times was black) and nothing ( resetting graphics driver, pressing power button to test if it's in sleep mode, ctrl+alr+delete, plugging in a second monitor) other than force restarting seems to recover the computer

I've updated my card's drivers to the most recent whql, checked using sfc/scannow

Does anyone have any idea other than force restarting? I want to know what's causing this.

Feel free to @ me if you have any questions!
Please press the button if you think my advice was helpful! Thanks!

It's likely a video driver crash, probably due to a dying graphics card.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Could you try disabling sleep and hybernate and suspend?

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

I made a thread a few days ago about testing the gpu, it seemed to be fine under kombustor. The log files are in that thread

sleep and hibernate has actually been set to never, what is suspend? if you mean suspend hard drive, that was set to 20 minutes
but isn't a suspended hard drive supposed to fire back up after i press the power button?

Stress tests are not stability tests.

Try testing the GPU with GPUPI 3.3.3,Press Calculate then use the following settings:

32B HWbot GPU

choose your GPU in OpenCL GPU devices

Batch size: 20M

Reduction size: 512

Then press OK to start.

(Press cancel if a message about HPET appears)

Tell us if you get any errors while testing.

It's possible that there is something wrong with your GPU or the driver.

That's good,

Your GPU is stable.

But that crash with OpenCL is weird

So try testing the CPU with Prime95 with the Blend option for a hour.

Tell us if you get any errors while testing.
