Country: United Kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Just High end new releases with potential higher refresh rate monitor in future

Hi all, I was just looking for some thoughts on my build that I'm planning to get as I cant go wrong to get some outside opinions from people that know more than most.

I currently run a PC that is about 7 years old, Its an FX 8350, some 1980Hz ram I think? a GTX 1060 6GB and a 970A-DS3P Motherboard as the main parts. I dont have M.2 or even an SSD in general and speeds are starting to be really lacking. Booting the pc is a chore because it just takes so long, so I thought if I need to upgrade my mobo anyways I can go ahead and make everything little more modern.

Here is a list of all the parts I have chosen so far. I'm planning to use my current GPU (GTX 1060 6GB) until I can afford a newer RTX 3060ti

Any thoughts? Is it okay? My knowledge is a little dated lol. Also I know as its for gaming that a Ryzen 7 might be a little much but I cant help getting something a little more BEEFY.

Thanks in advance :))

Little point in rgb memory modules as the cooler covers the memory area.

Case has a front panel usb-c port that is not supported by the motherboard.

If the plan is to eventually get an RTX 3060 Ti 650W PSU would provide sufficient capacity.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Correct, even the 3080's recommended power supply is 750 watts.

Yeah, I agree with you. £180 on a case is a bit too much, better cut down on the case cost for raw power.

For the iCUE case, you might need to reconsider it. I have read the review of that case and it is somewhat small and any high profile RAM is not gonna fit.

TLDR: reduce budget on case for better CPU and cooler. Consider a bigger case.
