New Build not turning on, Need help identifying the issue

Go to solution Solved by emosun,

alright well so long as all the connections are connected and everything is supported and you aren't getting any diagnostic leds or beeps and the gpu is known to work then it can likely just be a DOA board. Just make sure everything works in a different build to be sure but that would be my conclusion.

Friend and I are working on a new build for him. Once fully assembled, the computer will not turn on. I have troubleshot the following:

  • PSU (Works)
  • CPU (In correctly)
  • RAM (In correct slots)
  • BIOs Flash
  • Motherboard - Only on-board RGB comes on
  • I have checked mulitple time, front panel connecters are in correctly

Motherboard Model: TUF B450M-PLUS II

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3300X

Can the Board still be DOA even if the RGB comes on?

Yes, I can confirm I tried to turn on before BIOS flash. Still wouldn’t turn on

does the build have a gpu

Yes, it does have a GPU. 1050 ti. Low profile, doesn’t need PSU power

and the board isn't giving anything on the diagnostic leds or beep codes?

did you try the 1050 in a working machine?

No beeps or LEDs. The board has RGB, they come on, but didn’t show any codes.

I have not tried the 1050 in a working machine. I can attempt that later on

i have kept in both RAM sticks

Have not tested yet, (will keep this thread updated) if the Computer doesn’t work with one ram stick, what can I assume from that?

still no boot. On board RGB comes when I turn the PSU from O to l . When I hit the case power, no fans come on and nothing displays. Is this a sign of a dead motherboard?

remove everything from the case and bench test it outside of the case and see if it has a grounding problem and can run with no case

Motherboard still wouldn’t work. On-Board RGB still comes on, that is it

TUF B450M-PLUS II

Supports 3300X out of the box. No BIOS update needed.

What brand and model PSU and RAM?

What GPU?

I have tested everything I could possibly test. I tested the GPU, and PSU on an older Build (Built around 2016) They both worked. So I am thinking it was DOA. the only thing that that comes on are the on-board RGB. They come on right when I flip the PSU from O to I .
