Looking for some direction on new editing build

Budget (including currency): $2k usd - ish

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Premiere

Other details:  I'm looking at doing a new build primarily for editing with adobe premiere.   I'm open to suggestion but looking at the Ryzen 7 5800X.  It's been awhile since I've done a build but I'm not unfamiliar.   So what CPU / Motherboard combo would be good to look at?   I'm partial to ASUS but open to suggestion.

Let me get this straight... Your engine is 1.9 liters and my Pepsi is 2?

I would recommend something like this, or close to it at least. Just be careful on what seller you get the gpu from, but you should be alright.

Does the $2k budget need to include peripherals, or...?

If you need from get closer to $2k, use an HDD instead of the 4TB NVMe drive.

No - in fact, some components I already have, such as a case, PSU, Non NVME drives, monitors, case fans, etc.

I looked lists above. 3060 for this price and for this kind of work ain't too good.

Build could be balanced perfectly to allow better GPU.

As you said u already have drives and PSU. So herr u go.

This build will allow good GPU, Such as 3070 or 3070 ti. If you are lucky enough you might be able to get hands on 3080, If u watch GPU drops...

Also, B550 Tomahawk is great board, But it's prices is all over the place, It's supposed to be cheaper, So gaming plus instead, It's great board too.

There is no need to spend much on a CPU cooler. Dark rock 4 will be perfectly fine even if u overclock.

3600mhz RAM will be well suited for this build. Aldo it's ain't CL16, But it doesn't any difference for editing work, So don't go overkill with it and don't pay ton of money for RAM.

If u want Gen 4 SSD, You could get it, But I don't think there is any need for it, So P5 is best option in Gen 3 drives right now due to its price.

In the end, It's GPU that makes biggest difference in performance, So saving for better GPU is best thing you can do.

Well I want to just make sure that that $2k budget is for everything new.

You did say you have the case and everything, but depending on how old your build is... I mean keeping the case should probably be fine (depending on the case, of course), but I can imagine if you had something like an intel 4000 series cpu, then that psu will definitely need to be replaced.

How old is it though? Double check when you bought it, and the warranty just to be sure. 🙂

Yeah, but you're putting newer components in your upgrade right?

So let's say you get all of this and you have a 2015 PSU with a 5 warranty. Guess what happens if the psu shorts the system? You have to buy EVERYTHING all over again. Why? You're not covered anymore, because you decided to cheap out and not get a new psu. That 5 year warranty (in this scenario) expired last year. You would be SOL.
