Lets do this

TurtleKwitty

Budget (including currency): Yes but CAD$

Country: Canada (Quebec, if that might affect things)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I'm a programmer, I do freelance work and a gamer. Will need to handle a lot of virtualization to run all the servers needed for the systems I code, media stream server at the same time and handle all of gaming I can through at it.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Essentially this is my "f*ck it, lets do it all" build project following my current PC starting to die out over the load asked of it and that it was okay-ish tier five years ago. I love computers but I've always been more of a software gal but for a budget of yes I kinda want to build it myself haha. I'm here to kinda make sure I'm not forgetting something and ask if y'all have ideas on cases especially.

The build:

Questions:

Ram - I have this from a previous minor upgrade overclocked a bit but it was for the space that I needed it more than speed; would it be better to get outright better ram instead? if so what do you recommend?

Case - Yeah yeah stereotypical but any idea of a good pink case? Would love it to fit the rest of my quartz razer stuff if possible, but either way case recs please I seriously am lost with how many options there are and don know what to particularly look for haha.

Bluetooth - Just wanted to validate, I think i read that the motherboard has built in Bluetooth so will be able to switch to wireless just fine yeah?

Cooling - A consideration I'd like some help on as well is, while using it I'd like it to be quiet hence the cooler read that was good and quiet? BUT, when not at the computer will be letting it mine when idle so it would also need to be thermally good I guess to handle that? Whats the middle ground soundwise to fit my needs? I know water cooling is probably better but I'm a bit worried with my lack of experience it'll go bad, but am open if I can have precise details of what I'll need and the maintenance?

Thanks so much in advance for y'alls help :3

DDR4-3600 CL16- will offer significantly better performance.

The Dark Rock Pro 4 is a good choice of cooler for the cpu. You will just need to watch memory module clearance.

If you want a good pink case get a good black case and pink vynl wrap or have it powder coated. Meshify 2 is a good case choice. If you want something with bling you might consider one of the lian-li pc-o11 models and switch to an AIO with A-RGB fans. Arctic has some very good models.

The motherboard has Bluetooth and WiFi.

I would spend less on the motherboard and add more NVMe storage.

I would wait to see the independent reviews of the new Intel cpu due out in a couple of weeks.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I would also just go with 64 GB of ram. That's more of a f*ck it build. You can also consider going with the 6900XT instead. It performs relatively similarly and is typically much cheaper than the 3090. Also go all SSD, hard drives are dead 😈🔪 (jk, jk).

Here's a cleaned up f*ck it build:

Yea not many pink cases on the market. I would recommend buying a white case and spray painting it pink instead. Here are some case recommendations:

be quiet! Pure Base 500DX

Corsair 4000D Airflow

Lian Li Lancool II Mesh

Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh White w/ Controller

There are black versions of all the cases if you want to go with that instead.

You're both right IDK why Iwas worrying about reusing ram haha, so read up on whats recommendeed and hell AMD themselves say 4000 ram so went all out this is supposed to be a f*ck it build after all haha
For the GPU had considered the 6900 but part of the reason its so much cheaper is exactly becasue its so much less efficient for mining, aka offsetting/repaying the system over time so decided to keep the 3090 after all.
Still a bit on the fence about the motherboard but do like the 10gig networking and it being way overkill so won't have to think too hard if I have extra needs overtime, should be good for a whillllleeee to come yeah? Don't wanna deal with too many new platform issues though so dont super wanna try to be first wave on the new intel so might as well just stick to ryzen is my thinking if that makes sense ?
Did change up storage, downgraded the m.2 a bit to 1tb for the windows install, gonna raid the two ssds for day t day storage and media server the entire harddrive, worst case the data corrupts dont super care so no raid on that one needed, does that make sense? Did want space for more expansion though so kinda been liking the giant case idea, if its not gonna be pretty itll at least be hella functional? did up the budget a fair bit, but this is my current thoughts, am I missing anything or if say I click buy tomorow I'll have it all right?

Fair point, also has 24GB vram for your modding needs 😄

Your motherboard might need a bios update to support ryzen 5000, but it has bios flashback so it shouldn't be too difficult to update it. You can also consider going with the X570S Tomahawk or Aurous Master if you don't want to mess with bios. Their a refresh chipset that comes with an updated bios to support ryzen 5000 series.

Looks good to me though!

So yeah, I'd go with a fancy white case and spray paint it or buy all the RGB possible to make it glow pink.

You don't need an Aorus Master, a good quality X570 will last you a long time!

I'd take a good AIO for cooling, something like the Arctic Liquid Freezer in the 360mm variant.

I personally wouldn't take the 500DX and 4000D Airflow, as they both are rather compact. With this gear, a 5000D airflow is a little more comfortable to build in.

Also the Meshify 2, Lian Li O11 (with a lot of added fans), Phanteks P600 I believe and Dark Base 802 from Be quiet are all solid choices. I don't know about the last two, but the Meshify and Lian Li can both be had in white.

Loads of space for ridiculous AI data sets too which cam come in handy on top of everything else :3

Not dealing with bios would be ideal but seeing reviews that mention pesky noisy fan which is a big non starter thanks to autistic hypersensitivity if allistics are mentioning it (big part of why the 140mm and low start fans really). From what I've seen it looks easy enough to do and don't particularlyind putting a a bit of manual work if it means getting top end won't have to pay it any mind no matter how insane I end up upgrading the rest of stuff around it haha

For pure personal curiosity; any idea why they don't just put the update on new ones?

Was looking into AIOs and, past my initial worry it might be more maintenance, loads of people are mentioning pump whine that I just couldn't deal with, thanks for the prompt to look into it more again though it's good to run down the options :3

I also was hesitant at first with AIO's, but you only hear of the bad cases of failures. Most AIO's are fine and hold up solid after 7 years. So no worries there.

If you want to keep it more quiet and if the case has the space for it, there are a few 420 (3x140mm) AIO's. They cool better then the 360mmm and are more quiet. Also 280mm could be enough, it is enough on my 5900X but I am not quite certain if its enough for the 5950X. The performance of an AIO is not only determined by the fan size and count, but also by the density and thickness of the Radiator. Thats why the thicc Arctic Liquid Freezer Line performs so well.

Well youve done a good job at confusing the absolute sht out of me ;-;

Basically just trimming down the stuff that will make very little diff in performance and also just some futureproofing upgrades

Yea a fk it build is really your own imagination so i cant really do much here cause my imagination of a fk it build would be top of the line cpu, gpu, and ram + subzero cooling for the cpu ram and gpu (like phase change cooling) cause im an ocing nut, and then having everything else balanced

For the any boards they have shipped out recently, it will most likely have the latest bios in it. Unfortunately, there are still boards floating out there that were shipped before ryzen 5000 launch. X570 has been around before ryzen 5000 so that's why it gets this weirdness. One of the main issues with the 5 year AM4 support promise (not to say it was a bad thing though).

Oh good call on the psu

It's interesting that you mention ram as one of the things you'd go all in high end but pick 3600 over the AMD engineers recommended 4000 since that's what Ryzen 5950 was tuned for; right now have 2x G.Skill Trident Z Royal 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-4000 CL18 Memory that's what testers seemed to recommend, any reason to go down to 3600?

I don't think the pump is the issue. With fans spinning, you wont really hear the pump. But 3 140mm fans are more quiet then 3 120mm ones.
