Updating Mi TV Stick & ADB not working in recovery

My Mi TV Stick has been stuck on build PI.832 (October 2020) since I bought it about a month ago. I thought this was because my region was incorrect, I set it to Germany because the Netherlands was no option. I did a full reset a few days ago where I set it to US, but that hasn't helped either. Now I wanted to try updating it with ADB through the recovery. In the Android TV OS ADB works fine, but in the recovery it isn't detected and the ADB driver installer doesn't detect it either. Is there any way I can update this thing?
