Choosing a 1440p Monitor…

Having a PC built and I’m having trouble choosing a monitor.  Looking for 1440p, 27 inch, 1ms gtg, 144Hz+, G-Sync compatibility.  Here’s what I’m stuck between.

Not sure what’s my best pick and thought I would see if someone with some more hands on experience or just greater knowledge could steer me in the right direction.  Open to other suggestions, everything above falls between $300-$400, like to stay somewhere between there but would go 450-475 if anyone thinks I’d be getting something far better for the extra money.

There are few individuals in the universe who know more about monitors than Tim from Hardware Unboxed. He created this guide for just this type of situation.

 

For me, I went with the Gigabyte M27Q based on his recommendation in an older video, and I've been using it for 7 months now. It's a great monitor, and also wins the value pick in this round-up, but if you're looking at possibly spending more, there are better options.

best value pick m27q, unless you can find the LG for 275usd

best text/comfort LG 27GL83A-B/850B, low contrast but comes with srgb clamp

best gaming/color/overall msi 274QRF-QD (not the base non-QD version), cheapest argb high refresh option on the market.

fi27Q-P is just slightly worse overall.

I went for the MSI 274qrf-qd got it for 405 at new egg, I think I’ll be happy with it.  Thanks guys.

The MSI 274QRF-QD is the best if you have an i1 Display to make a color profile for it. If you don't, The LG GP850 probably is. I was able to find one on Amazon's Refurb program for about $350.

Recent firmware updates added an sRGB mode. So oversaturation for standard content is not a problem anymore.

That's great, but it likely won't be remotely close to accurate color targets. With monitors like this, the difference between uncalibrated, eyeballed, and actually calibrated, is not subtle.

Close enough for most people. Of course if you're dependant on accurate colors for work etc. you should own and use a calibration device either way.
